hi everyone, i'm new here.  i saw the melted-bead lampshade and coasters and just thought i'd share the lamp i made for my Boy a couple years ago (same principle).  it's made entirely out of melted records which, by the way, stink like a mof when you're melting!

Shocked That's incredible. I've done a few rounds of record bowls but that takes it to a new level, lol. Mind sharing a few more details about how you did it when you have time?  Cool  Did you break the 7"es then melt them together?

no problem.  first i melted a huge wad of crappy 33's into a ball for the base, then draped a super-scratched american graffiti record over the top (one of the Boy's fav's).  then i drilled a hole through the whole mess, stuck some sculpture wire in it and made it into the neck shape i wanted and wrapped the lamp wiring around that.  then i cut up a TON of 45's in various colors (they were all shitty bands and only like a quarter at cheapo) and melted them to wrap the neck and make the shade.  finally i covered it all in clear epoxy to make sure nothing would move.  sorry if that's not very clear...if you have any other questions, i'll be happy to answer em!
