My 20 (gasp) year class reunion is coming up and I really want to make a purse out of this t-shirt:

However, since I have NEVER sewn anything in my life, I decided to practice with a curtin I had lying around.  I thought it turned out well enough to use.

Just for fun, I turned a sequin tube top and belt I found on clearance at walmart into a purse as well.

Now that I've figured out my machine, back to the original project.  Thanks for looking!

Here it is.  The reason I learned to sew.  I'm thrilled with the result, and the fact that I can now sew.  Yea!

PuNkY-  I guess it was a curtin.  I found this beautiful fabric at a local salvage center.  I got 5 large pieces for $3. 

Here's the pic.  What do you guys think?  It almost looks like of a skirt, but has some beads hanging from the bottom center.  Both sides have openings that seem to be for a rod of some kind.
