WINNER!! Congrats to: Mobile Tea Toter by piealottapie (Obsession: iced tea)

The theme for BAG CHALLENGE # 5 is: Your Obsession!

How to do this challenge: This bag is dedication to your obsession! This can be anything from movie stars, stars in the sky, colors, designs, artists, peices of artwork, etc.
Please note: These bags should really be made specifically for the challenge and not stuff you have laying around that "kind of" fit the challenge description.

Deadline for Entries:
July 29, 2006

Winner will receive a Craftster button from Leah! Smiley

Posting your entries: THEY GO IN A REPLY TO THIS TOPIC!

Use this entry form (to be posted in the topic with your entry, not PM'd to me):

Remember that because every entry will be in this one thread, we cannot clutter the thread with off topic chatter. If you have a question about something please PM me and don't post it in the thread. If you have a compliment/question for someone else, PM it to them please. Everyone has to vote for your purse, and it will be much harder if they have to scroll through 4 pages of talking to find the entries and they may not even want to. I will have to delete off topic posts. It's for your own best interest to make sure everyone sees your entries! Smiley

What will happen to the thread/entries after the contest: I will "archive" this thread on the main page so everyone can see the past entries.

This challenge came just in time, I've been wanting to do one but was lacking the inspiration for a design on the previous challenges, but this weekend I'll be going to see my favorite band in Calgary and wanted/needed a fun cool tote to carry with me. This is what I've come up with:

Bag Title: Third Day Tote

Your Obsession: Third Day

Bag picture(s):

The faces are made out of felt and I embroidered on the eyes etc and the letters are iron on fuzzies.

Bag Title: Pink Paradise
Your Obsession: The color Pink!

I had wanted to make this bag for a while and this challenge gave me the kick in the pants to finally start it. I love the color pink. I have pink everything. Even a pink sewing machine. And that paired with the want of a tropical vacation gives me the perfect bag. Its a messenger style purse with a pocket on the inside. I hope you enjoy it!

Bag Title:  Mermaid's paradise
Your Obsession:  Ocean critters and Beadwork of course.
Bag picture(s):

This last pic is a jelly fish, there is a glass marble in there.

Funny story how this purse began.  It started with reject flat glass marbles (found in floral dept of store) One reject was two fused together, I thought that looks like cleavage or butt crack lol.  Another was pear shaped and I thought that is a face.  Another fit perfectly under her breasts and I thought perfect for a belly.  I glued the flat marbles to felt then hand stitched the beadwork of tail using flat glass and seed beads. I cut out completed mermaid from felt leaving enough room to tack edges to scrap suede.  I wanted this to last forever, I used dental floss thruout.  I used peyote stitch for flipper.  Before tacking closed I placed flat bead under base of flipper to make it puff out a little.  I used various shaped glass crackle beads for her arms and hands.  Her beaded strands of hair flow freely.  I used peyote stitch for clown fish. I put a bead edging stitch around bottom and top suede peices and then peyote stitched front and back together a few rows.   Shell and tigers eye beads adorn the fringe.  The long strap of purse took the longest, I used circular peyote stitch for that.  I glued shells for her top and over the magnetic clasp hardware.  The marble critters are souveniers from the zoo.

Bag Title: Aussie Bag
Obsession: Australia

I had this messenger bag on my mind for a while and finally found time and motivation to actually make it.
for the front of the flap i cut out a part in the shape of the country and then i sewed the australian flag to the back of it and handstitched all around it.
took a while to find an australian flag in germany but thanks to the world cup the shops had all kind of flags for sale.

inside of flap

small mobile pocket with elastic opening  - the seams on the inner pockets are in blue in red to take up the colours of the union jack

there's another small inner pocket on the other side of the bag but i couldnt get a somewhat good picture of it.

Obsessed, me?
Bag Title:  Ravenclaw Messenger Bag for Lumos Las Vegas http://lumos2006.org/
Your Obsession:  All Things Harry Potter & Paper Piecing

What a great challenge!  My obsessions are Harry Potter & Paper Piecing.   Due to my obsession, I maniacally design HP paper piecing squares and designed this square & bag specifically take to Lumos in Las Vegas at the end of this month.  The entire bag is quilted & lined with recycled denim from another project.  The strap is also quilted and will be way comfy for carrying my HP loot in Vegas!    Woo-hoo!

Inspiration... the Ravenclaw House seal

BAG TITLE:   Denise's Bags

MY OBSESSION:  Bags, totes and purses

My obsession is bags, bags and more bags. I've been wanting to do a bags on bag for
a while and this challenge inspired me to put needle to fabric, and make a start.
It's all hand stitched and I used felt and some vintage fabrics I had. The ribbon rose is hand made as well.
The main part of the bag is 8"W by 5"H.
