Thanks for all the comments!

I think that, were I to do it again, I'd probably secure the dreads individually with some brown floss. And I'd probably use a hairnet instead of a nylon, as it might fit my head a touch better. Wink But being on a time crunch, safety pins and nylon were definitely a good choice. (The safety pins especially, so my mom could cover up my bald spots before I went out on the town.)

I walked down the street to my mom's house (we live six houses apart), in fact, so she could fancy me up with some liquid eyeliner. I ended up adding more, but it definitely helped. My mom's so great. (And so crafty!)

Great idea! and the medallion is brilliant! And just a thought... maybe for making other fake dreads someone could try felting them? i think that might make the texture better... but I love yours!

Look at me, I'm on TV, it makes up for the shortcomings of being poor. Now I'm in a million pieces picked up for deliberation by the people listening at home, by the people watching on the telly...

I would have done that, I think, if I had more time and brown wool. As I had neither of those but plenty of Red Heart, that's what I used. (Wool is hard to find in my hometown, and I didn't have a chance to drive to the wool ...)
