this is probably a lame question, but i really have no idea about this stuff.

how do i get my web page to come up on search engines?

are there other ways to advertise on the web, or to make my site more accessible?

this is all new to me, so any advice would be great!

thanks, melissa

If you go to the individual search engine sites, there is a link that says something like "Submit site". Some search engines charge for this -- I skipped them and just did the free ones. There are also some sites (you'd have to search for them) that will submit your site to several places for you. Again, I didn't pay anyone for this. Make sure to swap links with some people, because your rankings are improved by how many other sites link to your site. Also, submit your site to listings like www.bust.com, www.ibuydiy.com, www.shemadethis.com, etc. Then make sure you have good metatags with plenty of descriptive keywords.

what are metatags?

i went to google and bust and got my link up. yay.
my husband is finishing up some inventory on my site this week, so after that i'll start trying to trade links with other sites.
and i'll definately put the link up on here.
thanks. melissa

It's part of the html code for your site -- For examples, you can see the metatags for the craftster site if (this is assuming you're using Internet Explorer) you go to "View" (near the top left of the screen) then "Source". This will bring up the source code for the site. Your website should have some similar structure (but with different keywords, of course).
