I made a post before on getting a pattern to knit a cactus, well i tried it myself and I think it looks alright.

here are some pictures.

Cast on 24 stitches and divide onto three stithces
Knit 2, Purl 2 for entire round. Repeat until desired height.
Knit 2 together, purl 2 together for entire round
Knit 1, purl 1 for entire round
knit 2 together, purl two together
knit 1, purl 1 for entire round.
Cast off.

I then turned it inside out and stuffed it with regular cotton batting. I cut a circle out of some cardstock and stuck a wooden stick in it the length of the clay put and cactus (as shown below). The cactus was then placed on top. I then used soem rafia stuff to decorate.

'm currently knitting another one with the branches and in the future i plan on using some eyelash wool to make itl ook like its picky. when im finished (if i ever do finish, i never have time anymore..) i'll post pictures.

any comments welcomed. This is my first project i've posted.

That is hilarious!  And it looks so real.  Fab job.

Very cute. YOu need to add some pricky things.  Then It would really look real. Just a thought.

It's so cute!

Prickly bits might be neat.  Or one of those little flowers cacti sometimes have.

That's freaking brilliant.  As a notorious plant-killer, I think that I might need a knitted cactus.

I am totally blown away.

Oh that is just wonderful!  Thank you so much for sharing it.  I am going to have to make one for my manager at work...she is the all time plant killer...only reason the two in her office are still going is because I got them and I take care of them...her room just looked too boring without a plant...now I can give her one that SHE can take care of and not worry about killing it LOL.  She also decorates her kitchen in southwest, cactus and chili peppers.  ~Tricia
