I wanted to ask, would cards count as a transfiguration assignment?? I made a bunch of cards that I would love to share (to have SOMETHING to show  Cheesy )
Turning anything into something else counts so I'd say yes.

Class (or House Pride Item): Transfiguration
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Mother's Day Cards !
Project Page Link:
Brief Description:Collection of cards I made for Mother's Day with fun moving functions

Hey guys ! Hope everyone enjoyed their mother's day  Grin

Here are a couple of cards I made for the occasion.

I made two of these to give to my former art teachers
the flower in the center spins when you open the card

I made this one for my godmom

the ribbon pulls the top part up

open and ready for writing

Then I made the same one for my grandmother

This one for my MIL

the center swins open when you pull the card at the sides

Then one for my friend to give her mom

FINALLY! the card for my mommy

need to catch up on a few completed project posts...

Class: Transfiguration
House: Gryffindor
Project Name: Transforming yarn into AWESOME YARN
Brief Description: I have pulled out my cauldron and produced a potion that transforms plain, 100% wool yarn (Full O’ Sheep Yarn which I got for 99cents) into 100% AWESOME yarn.  I have used 2 different cauldrons for my potions; both seemed to worked fabulously for this potion.  Here's what I did...
Project Pictures:
Both received a vinegar and water soak in the sink

Then wet wool was transferred to their respective cauldrons, stockpot & crockpot.  Everything is food safe that I'm using so don't worry about my cauldrons.

Next, colors were selected; I'm using Wilton Icing Colors (Delphinium Blue, Royal Blue, and Red-Red) & (Juniper Green, Leaf Green, and Kelly Green)

Added the color to the cauldrons (icing color was diluted with hot water before adding)

Simmer until color is absorbed by yarn...truly magically how water turn clear

Drain yarn (I also rinsed mine in hot water...not cold or you will felt the yarn!) & hang to dry

Now you have AWESOME YARN!

(I'm going to be using this technique to liven up some clearance wool that I shall make into SPEW squares)

Class: Detention With Snape
Project Name: millifae Arvifae House

I live in a small modest rented  muggle house with a single car garage that is separated by a screened Lanai (for those of you who don't live in Florida, A screened Porch). Years before I moved in, the single car garage was turned into a mother in law's apartment, which was the fashion at the time, over time when the modest little house was no longer family owned, some handy muggle turned the apartment into two efficiency's thus tripling the rent a muggle Landlord could ask for the modest house.

Because of the diminutive size of the newly created efficiency's, tenants come and go, never staying more than a year. The last tenants, which started out as a single Mexican man ended up with about 10 men living in the tiny room, because of this and many other reasons the men were evicted, but not before they destroyed and trashed the place- The Landlord, heartbroken, locked the door and walked away.

As time passed the tiny room had become over ridden with Garden Gnomes who were unable to resist the aroma of the food had been left in the cupboards and fridge, well, Garden Gnomes,  as everyone knows, are nearly impossible to get rid of once they have gotten used to living inside.

Two years passed when the landlord decided it was time to repair the broken little room. As soon as the work began on the plumbing and electricity, the gardens gnomes, who were angered and feeling trapped found an escape route by shimmying up the shared water pipes only to emerge underneath the water heater in my tiny modest house.

During this time I was putting on the final touches of my Trunk house in preparations for a family of millifae (fairy like creatures native to New England that possess magical powers and shape shifting capabilities). Seeing this home angered the newly displaced garden gnomes so much that they set about destroying the little trunk house. I woke one morning to find this:

Angered, Saddened and heartbroken, I reluctantly packed the unfinished and now destroyed home away, knowing that until I could, once and for all rid my home of these pesky gnomes,  I would not be able to repair and finish my beautiful trunk home- After enlisting in a pest control man (who was useless) and a couple of cats I am now happy to report my home and yard are now free of those pesky garden gnomes. Several months past before I was positive that they weren't any gnomes left, I unpacked my precious home, repaired and finally finished it- and I am happy to say I rented it out to a group of Arvifae!

Class: Arithmancy
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name:Arithmancy and the Avarifae

While it is well known that Leonardo of Pisa,  later known as Leonardo Fibonacci,  discovered the Fibonacci Sequence little was known about what led to the discovery of the Fibonacci sequence. That is until recently, when a wizard appearing on the Artifacts Cobblestone (the wizard version of the Antiques road show) presented his recent garage sale finds, One of which was a journal belonging to Leonardo himself. This priceless artifact revealed many unknown facts about his childhood and subsequent mathematical discoveries.

Leonardo was born a muggle around 1175 AD  to wizards Guglielmo Bonacci, A customs officer in Bugia and Alessandra, a frail but loving woman who doted on Leonardo. As a child Leonardo was a shy, intelligent, lonely boy- that lived on the edge of two worlds- One was a world of all things wondrous and magical with many unexplained phenomenons and the other a simple, ordinary world filled with honest hardworking people.

Not being magical, Leonardo didn't quite fit in the wizard world- and having wizards for parents that use their magic freely at home, made it difficult for him to fit in with muggles, as a result Leonardo spent many hours, alone in his room contemplating the mysteries and wonders of both worlds. This worried Leonardo's parents, Alessandra and Guglielmo so much that they devised a way to expand their son's world.  As a customs officer, Guglielmo frequently traveled the world. Leonardo would accompany him on his next journey to the Middle East. It was there that Leonardo would discover many unusual and wonderful things, including the basic mathematics that led to the discovery of Fibonacci sequence.
The shops of the Middle East held a strong fascination for Leonardo, they were so colorful and different from the shops back home, that he  spent many hours wandering through them- mesmerized by the wonderful and unique treasures they carried. One shop, The Hieracosphinx emporium held a particular fascination for him.
The Hieracosphinx emporium sold the most unusual and unique creatures from both the muggle and wizard worlds- As a muggle born to wizards Leonardo was permitted to enter the room of magical creatures that was hidden from muggles by a concealment charm. It was in this room that Leonardo discovered the Avarifae (ah-var-ree-fay),A highly intelligent, one inch tall, half bird, half elf like creature that spouted endless facts, stories and tales about everything.

Leonardo would spend many hours in the concealed room at the back of the Hieracosphinx emporium listening the Avarifae's tales, who Leonardo learned was named Angrod. One day Leonardo was late visiting the shop, when Angrod inquired as to why he was late Leonardo broke the terrible news to him, that soon he would have to leave the middle east and would no longer be able to visit him. All of a sudden Angrod let out a loud shout to the shop owner, who appeared at once and demanded to be released to Leonardo. At first the shop owner resisted and began to argue with Angrod, against releasing him. Angrod shot back that he had served the shop owner well for many years educating him on many subjects, including achieving wealth, because of this, Angrod argued, the shop owner owed him his release.
The argument continued, for what seemed to Leonardo, hours. Finally the shop owner relented, realizing there is no way he would ever win an argument with an avarifae, Angrod's freedom was granted. Angrod was now free to accompanied Leonardo back home to Pisa
As Luck would have it they arrived in Pisa on the evening of the blue moon, just in time to for Leonardo to witness a miraculous and unusual occurrence. For the duration of a the blue moon Avarifae have the ability to divide and multiply themselves, doing so enables the avarifae to offer wizards additional  help if needed, once the blue moon ends the avarifae  returns to it's original one-ness.
Witnessing this phenomenon helped Leonardo discover the Fibonacci Sequence, you see, the avarifae have an unusal way of multiplying, at first there is one, then two, then three, then five then, well just take a look

I think you get the idea- I really had to stop taking pictures and leave the room the constant chattering from the ever multiplying avarifae was making me crazy

On another note, so funny...

Challenge: Quidditch - Chaser
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Beaded Fan Pull
Brief Description: It took me awhile to come up with a project for this challenge. Looking around my room I couldn't help but notice the tiny little pull on my fan. It worked great for the light over my desk in college, but now it's a bit small. I had some beads I didnt know what to do with because they were too big for jewelry but they were perfect for this. I added some smaller beads from my broken jewelry collection in because it would have looked too plain and here's the result.

Challenge: Quidditch - Seeker
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Snitch Catch-All
Brief Description: I couldn't let the other pieces of the soda bottle I made the cuff out of go unused so I turned the bottom into a Snitch by adding some wings and using the witchery of permanent markers to turn the plastic yellow. I'm planning on using it as a catch-all for small items like coins and odds and ends that come out of my pockets and purse.

I just returned from holiday at Tinworth, Cornwall, near shell cottage-it is such a lovely and magical place, if the opportunity ever presents itself I suggest you go. The days there are wonderful with the perfect breeze washing onto the shore, but the evenings were Particularly lovely.

one evening as I took a seaside stroll I noticed an odd occurrence groups of baby turtles washing ashore... could it be? had I arrived at tinworth at the perfect time? a closer look confirmed it. I had arrived in time to see the rare and beautiful Blue Luna turtle migration- It's believed that these rare turtles are conceived and born during a blue moon, in fact their ties to the blue moon are so strong that they only travel during the blue moon making this a rare sighting indeed.

Class: Muggle studies
Project Name: Pearls

For the Class Muggle studies, I decided to make a day of it and plan a trip to a muggle village to observe  muggles in their natural habitat-I went to a village I had never been before, where I noticed a large grouping of muggle cars in front of a large building with the words Mart on the front. (It seems muggles like these marts as I noticed quite a few but each with different first names wal, K, Bi, Save, Furniture-) very curious... groups of muggles kept going in and then coming out. I just had to see what caused such a large gathering ,was it a club or meeting? Perhaps a match of some kind- I was careful not to get too close to the muggles for fear of being discovered a wizard, but I just couldn't constrain myself, I  had to have a closer look.

I cautiously approached the doors of the mart and to my surprise the doors opened on their own, magic! these muggles do have magic after all.  I looked around and noticed muggles of all sorts young, old, large, small, black, white, brown, children and even babies-Many of the muggles were pushing large trolleys. Some of the trolleys were empty, some had children in the conveniently placed seat, children were hanging off some of them, there were muggle artifacts in others.

As I ventured further in the mart I saw row after row filled with an abundance of colorful muggle artifacts. within a few minutes I realized I was in a muggle shop and happily strolled about unnoticed, observing muggles, examining and reading the artifacts.
I rounded one corner and noticed an entire wall of moving pictures- Muggles have moving pictures too! Of course being the curious sort I just had to have a closer look. I could tell these muggle pictures were different from wizard pictures- but wasn't quite sure how. Stories! the moving pictures were telling stories -I must have stood there for hours in pure fascination wondering how the did it, especially when I saw a young boy changing the stories with a peculiar shaped wand with buttons- Who knew muggles possessed such wonderful magic!

There were all sorts of stories to observe-some short, some long, some scary some funny and even some informative.
One story in particular caught my attention, a documentary about muggle life titled: leave it to beaver- very strange indeed, I never did see any beavers- just a couple of boys, a mother and a father. They lived in a ordinary muggle home with all sorts of wonderful muggle artifacts and the mother was particularly fascinating -she was always dressed impeccable and her house was so neat and orderly, meals ready and on time, It had to be magic, no one could possible be that perfect without magical help! Just how did she accomplish this? I had to know, especially since housekeeping can be problematic for me. After many hours of observations I believe I discovered the source of her magic- The pearls! it has to be the string of pearls she wears around her neck- her outfits change frequently but she is never without that string of pearls.

My own home was  such a disorderly mess  I knew if I had my own string of magical pearls to wear, my house would  be, once and for all  orderly and perfectly kept. So, the following day I was off to the Indian Ocean in search of the perfect pearls- with a bit of magic, silk cord, swavorski crystals and of course pearls,  I now have my very own String of magical pearls.

(* these are not your Michael's craft variety of pearls they are actual A/B grade potato pearls, Just look at their luster, aren't they gorgeous?)

So I've been crafting up a storm and slacking majorly on taking pictures.  So today I made a point to get everything in order, get pictures taken and post them.  So this post might be a tad bit on the long side.  Embarrassed

Class (or House Pride Item): Transfiguration
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Starburst Mirror
Brief Description: I found a bunch of leftover shims in my garage and took inspiration from the internet and needing something on my living room wall and created a starburst mirror.  I sanded the shims just to take the rough edges off, stained them and glued them to a wooden disk then glued a mirror to the front.

Project Picture:

Class (or House Pride Item): Potions

Project Name: Scrabble Pillows
Brief Description: Being a Type-A, high strung person I have a hard time relaxing.  So I decided to make a set of pillows for my bed that will help me remember to slow down and take time to relax.  I made the cases out of tan muslin and stenciled the letters with their Scrabble point value on the front.

Class (or House Pride Item): Muggle Studies

Project Name: I Wear the Cheese
Brief Description: One of my favorite muggle television programs is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  This is a quotation from the last episode of season 4 called Restless.  All of the main characters have dreams and the "cheese man" is a reoccurring character in each of their dreams and this is one of the things he says in the episode.

Project Picture:

Class (or House Pride Item): DADA
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: No one ever suspects the butterfly....
Brief Description: I have an irrational fear of butterflies and moths.  I've had it for as long as I can remember (and according to my mom from even before I can remember) and when I saw that Bart Simpson wanted to come back in his next life as a butterfly; because "No one ever suspects the butterfly" I completely agreed.  I stitched this up and tried out the new Sharpie fabric pens to fill in the color.

Project Picture:

Class (or House Pride Item): Detention with Snape

Brief Description: Got this dress at my brother's wedding last year.  It looked very *shifty eyes* beautiful on me LOL.  But didn't want to throw it away so it's been in my closet waiting for the day I could dismember it.  I've always thought pillow, but never knew where to put it.  We found an art piece that will go in our master bedroom that has a deep purple as one of the colors, so pillow was finally made up.
~But before it's put to its finally resting place on the bed, it'll make a few trips on the Knight Bus as my cushion.  Once the hidden recorder is full, it will be taken out (you don't want playback of husbands snoring) and given to the Ministry.

Project Name: Spy Bag Fix
Brief Description:  Made this I Spy Bag with light styrofoam beads instead of the classic polypellets thinking I'd give it to a toddler and they could carry it easier.  But in the end, all the little toys just fell to the back of the bag and you could never move the bag enough to find the items.  It's stayed in the pile for months and finally decided to break open the seam and refill it. ~ I never knew it was so hard to break open that particular seam I sewed up!  I knew I sewed it hard to keep the toys in, but I never imagined it would be that stuck closed!  But in the end it got reparo-d.

Here are the 7 half pint jars of strawberry jam that I made.

Upclose with the jam.  Oh, and here is the link to the recipe that I use:

That website has loads of canning recipes and tips for canning.  It rules!

And here is the syrup in 5 pints and 7 half pint jars.  Mmmmm!  It is soooooo good on pancakes, even better than maple syrup.  Its also good on ice cream, too!
