Okay everybody prepared to be amazed.  I received an amazing piece created by Microjivvy.  You know, I had an inkling, based on several clues dropped by Microjivvy, that my matchbox would be a Day of the Dead matchbox.  but this was so far beyond what I could conceive.  I love it.  It is probably the coolest thing I own.

So onto it.
Here she is.  Isn't she lovely?

But wait!  She wants to show you something!

It's incredible!!!  So here are a few details (in linked thumbnails 'cuz I took SOOO many pics)

Everything about her is incredible; her translucent clothing made of ribbon; her ribs wrapping around the shrine; the papel picado; the offerings; the images of Jesus and the Virgin Mary; the itsy wine bottles and candles; the little sugar skulls; even the hinges get me!

And if that wasn't enough she still had a drawer filled to the brim with treasures!

Can you spot my favourite?  Probably not.

This miniscule fox!

Thank you SOOOO much Microjivvy.  I feel so friggin' LUCKY!!!

I received from jmiller614 over the weekend! I apologize in advance for the abundance of pics...

I totally almost didn't grab my camera before opening the package! I ripped in and was like.... ACKKK! Gotta find my camera!

All the neat "sciency" stuff on the backside of the wrapping Wink Honestly, not a lot of made sense.. I'd have used it for packaging too Tongue Though, for a minute just holding it and reading it made me feel smarter Tongue LOL Sorry, I'm one of those into little details and I loved this paper.. I'm silly, I know!

She packed it inside of a school box Smiley

Upon opening... a nice note Smiley

And under all the ad fluff... a totally cool Legend inspired sword!!!

unboxed sword..

unfortunately, the glue somehow sealed it all closed together... I even pried a knife carefully between the seams of the cover into the box opening.. I think the Texas heat melded it all together. BUT!... I glue gunned it immediately! Smiley

And... voila! fixed and opened Smiley

Sword and all the goodies and bits and pieces inside... the little magnets' tops were melted a bit into each other somehow(Texas heat perhaps-it's 90 already here) and I carefully pulled them apart with a bit of peeling... but I love them. My son loves them too.. I haven't shown him the little capsules. They will be a surprise for him to see what they are. We haven't done those things before with him. I will have to find something to do with all of these little things Smiley But, truth be told... the sword is my fav part!
link to bigger picture: http://www.boomspeed.com/wilcoxen/DSC05436.JPG

Thank you jmiller614 !!! I have to find a permanent home for my new sword Wink I will be sending yours out as soon as I finish it up! Not much more to go now Smiley

My partner haroldlovesmaude is in the middle of moving. I volunteered to post pics for her, if she needed, of the matchbox I sent and she asked if I would.  So here goes.

This matchbox was inspired by her WIST and her love for Kentucky. These first two images are straight from her WIST.

She wanted a 3D piece of art to display and this was what I came up with.

Each of the images I chose were hand drawn then painted on the sides of the "block house" I created from card stock.  I chose the banjo because of her love of bluegrass music and stuck with the replication of the images from the houses on her wist.  The houses looked like they were crafted from wood then stamped so I reproduced that feeling as best I could with paint.

This is the drawer filled to the brim.

The contents contained several shrinky dinks that I personalized for her based upon her wists, our messages and some sneaky detective work on my part.  They include a Cardinal (state bird of Ky), a guitar, a LP, music note and I added my squirrelbaitcrafts (from my blog) image. I also made her a mustache because everyone could use a nice mustache.  I also included a camera stamp (she loves photography), and some teensie buttons and then one that looks like a sewing machine. There are some stamps and other bits and bobs.

I lined the drawer with a map of Kentucky as she mentioned she loves maps.

I received my matchbox yesterday from blupaisan!

So I was too eager to open the box and knowing that my perfectionism would make me want "perfect images" I skipped the opening-the-box pictures and ripped right into it. Sorry 'bout that, but my matchbox from blupaisan is absolutely amazing so I'm sure you all can forgive me for not posting me ripping the tape off the box. =D

I unwrapped him from the tissue paper and could not stop giggling! He is soo adorable and incredibly creative! =D

the back

My goodies! Awesome cat stamps, a handmade panda bobby pin, a seed bead rainbow, a handmade mini panda, and a rainbow and tree silhouette magnet.

I love this magnet, it's beautiful! It's already on my board in my room!

I don't want to post too many pictures, so if you want to see more, here's the thumbs.

My cat is really interested in my panda too. I think he smells your cats blupaisan! And no, I have no idea what you made the claws out of! I took a macro of the claws so if anyone wants to guess. I just got my new camera so that was fun getting to play some more! Wink

Thank you so much blupaisan, I LOVE my panda! I know I put pandas on my questionnaire, but I don't know if you guessed that I'm OBSESSED with them! I don't know if you can tell, but all the pictures were taken on my panda comforter. =D

I received from the lovely Smallhold yesterday, because I was home late from work, I'm posting pics today!

She made me an awesome travel set! Smallhold says the fake leather is from Yves Saint Laurent, my first thought was Louis Vuitton, either way it's great! So awesome I gasped when I opened the package and so awesome I have to post more pic's of the set:

If I was twelve I would totally play that my barbies were going on vacation with these suitcases and bag!
Traveling wasn't one of my themes but my partners could choose anything else! Smallhold explained she encourages young people like me to travel while they can. I couldn't agree more! The places these suitcases have been include Singapore, Paris, Cairo, San Francisco, New York and Mumbai. I wonder if you visted all these places Smallhold?

Smallhold paid attention to detail! Look at the underside of the suitcases!

The smalled suitcase was filled with goodies, the pic a bit bad, because I had to take the pic when it was dark outside. (You must understand I couldn't possibly wait another day to unpack my suitcase!)

Goodies! A pin with feet, velvet choker, flower shapes buttons <3, lots of sequins, furry little balls and a pretty pendant!

Thank you so much Smallhold!

I have been sick for nearly a week now, and came home early from work today to get some extra rest.  Shortly after getting home I received the most lovely matchbox from cackle!  Honestly, I'm surprised it made it here safely.  There has been pouring rain and flooding for a week now, and there was a *HUGE* tear in the envelope that cackle's matchbox came in.  If she hadn't packed it so lovingly in a nice big sturdy jewelry box, I don't think it would have arrived here in one piece!  When I opened the envelope (or rather, pulled the box out of the back of the envelope), I saw how pretty it was wrapped and decided that if I was going to sit down and enjoy the box, I'd go all out.

So I made myself a tray of tea and biscuits.  Doesn't that look like a lovely way to start the evening?

When I opened the box, I found not one, but two matchboxes inside!  There was the actual box that cackle made for me, plus a little box of "overflow" matchbox goodies!

Here's a close up on the matchbox itself.  Cackle really hit the nail on the head with this box.  I work as a costume designer in theatre and dance, and I love the steampunk-ish side of Victoriana, so the outside of the box is a tiny Victorian theatre, filled with all kinds of vintage Victorian-esque bits!  I love the copper and gold paper lace trims!

Let's not forget the back of the box!

As I unpacked my matchbox and "overflow box", I soon started to run out of room on my tea tray!  I took lots of pictures of things as they came out, but soon realized that I probably should edit myself down from 30 pictures to something more manageable...  like say 5.  Or 7...  So instead of 12 pictures of each thing coming out, here are all the beautiful little bits and bobs packed away in my boxes.

Items inside include from top-ish left, clockwise:
Silver chandeliers, green cut glass beads, antique gold purse, sewing machine, angel, dress, crown, moon, teapot, gears, key, & clock face charms; silver earring hooks, silver dress hangers & winged key charms; giant silver pendant bezel, big fat crystal drop, brass pressed wing shaped bits, ball chain, strand of red beads, gears, gold bead caps, olive cut glass and amber crystal beads, deep red cut glass beads, beautiful polyclay piece, and an orange pekoe tea label.

And of course, some detail shots.  While I adore the entire package, I am absolutely in LOVE with this purple glass button!

Thank you so much cackle!  I absolutely adore my box and can't wait to take it to work to show off in the Costume Shop.  I already have plans for many of the fun little bits hiding inside too!  Thank you for being such a wonderful swap partner!!!

I received both of my matchboxes from StarFire and gozer this week and HOLY CANNOLI!! These girls hit the nail on the head as far as my taste is concerned. I'm feeling pretty spoiled.  Cheesy

I haven't taken pictures of gozer's box yet, but I'll share StarFire's now and finish up with gozer's tomorrow. Prepare to be jealous, folks.

StarFire's matchbox was wrapped in a box with a cute tag and a large amount of this pretty ribbon. This isn't the best picture of it, but it works.

Inside was my matchbox and a tube of sparkly flower-shaped glitter. I forgot to take a picture of the glitter.  Tongue
The matchbox is seriously adorable, though. I'm in love with these little owls! See for yourself...

Here's a picture of everything stuffed inside!

And finally, here's all of my goodies laid out. (Notice the matchbox's cute interior!)

There's a cute little sock monkey brad (How did you know I love sock monkeys?),
a snake brad (or maybe he's a bookworm, hence the glasses. Either way, he's cute.),
a turtle charm,
a deer charm,
a toadstool bead,
a sparkly green heart bead,
a nest charm,
two wishbone charms,
a magnet with a picture of a birdy and a few mushrooms on it (already on my fridge),
adorable owl earrings (already in my ears),
paper leaves,
four pretty blue beads,
two sparkly paper owls,
three sparkly paper trees (this paper is gorgeous! Like Edward Cullen in the sunlight! Wink ),
and ten pieces of miniature paper artwork, all lovely!

Here are some close-ups for good measure.

I am floored with how fantastic my boxes are. I hope mine measure up!  Undecided

Thanks for a wonderful swap, StarFire! I can't wait for you and gozer to get your boxes!

I recieved a beautiful matchbox from the awesome Sonjaboo:

she combined my love of books, art deco and steampunk into this awsome book.

And the contents:

My favourites (I think) are the bone bead and the arm charm, but I also love the little paper bits and game pieces.

Thanks Sonjaboo! I love my little bookbox!

Get ready for the Greatness that is a Wulf Matchbox!

This is the most incredible little leather suitcase I've ever seen! Wulf, the details are great and I appreciate every second you put into the construction. I wanted to include *all* of the photos I've taken of it's tiny little details but decided to spare everyone my obsession. Here are the highlights!

All wrapped up with a fantastic vintage postcard:

The front of the Niagara Falls, Canada postcard. I don't know the age of the post card, but it was printed when the mailing cost was 1!:

Here's a close up of the front straps:

Inside, packed tight:

Wulf, I can't believe you fit all this into that tiny suitcase!

Beautifully colored insect stamps from Chad
A filigree butterfly
Large pink plastic discs including fun light pink iridescent ones!
A copper washer
6 disc-shaped beads
Loads of little seed beads in reds and oranges, plus a rogue silver one
A puffy skellie sticker and a skellie bead
Vintage pins - a flourish, yummy rhinestone flowers and an awesome velvet and rose hat
5 little white vintage buttons and a hefty, light grey button that might be metal
4 gold tone connectors - 2 fancy swirly and 2 that remind me of double-ended nooses
A red ladybug bead that will be hoarded forever
A purple and black ladybug earring that makes me rethink all the lonely bits and pieces in my jewelry box - snip off the posts et voila, a fabby little embellishement!
2 round brass brads
Teeny tiny heart and key charms
A metal leaf-shaped charm in a cool blue patina that will also go into the Permanent Hoarding Collection
Wee blue and green cabochons that might find their way on a project I'm working on right now
A silver buckle that is so small but looks giant-sized compared to the buckles on the suitcase
A silver (sterling, I think) and purple charm that probably lived a former life as an earring
A little plastic ant (squee!)
A brilliant old label from a chain spool
9 delicious inches of vintage lace
And the best of the bunch - a beautiful blue vintage rhinestone that stopped me in my tracks - LOVELOVELOVE this!

Inside, using the beautiful butterfly to hold the lid open:

Here's a view of the strapping in the back, and another great view of the teeny tiny stickers!

Wulf, thank you, thank you, thank you! I will treasure it always.
