Okay!  So, in all truthfulness, I really DID have everything I am about to show you done way before Saturday...I haven't touched it since Wednesday, so I was on time for the weekend posting.  BUT, life got in the way this weekend...my brother in law walked in the door from work, told my sister he was divorcing her, and packed up his stuff and walked out on her and my two year old nephew.  It was completely out of the blue and needless to say shook up our lives big time, because now, with him gone and not wanting to see their son, I went from having one toddler to babysit every day to two...and that is a huge difference when they tend to strangle and bite and hit each other every 2.2 seconds...lol!  And I've been spending time with my sister to help her out as much as possible, which is why I wasn't around this weekend.

ANYWAY...enough back story, on with the pics!

I cut the house out of an old calendar I had and sewed it into my book while I had it all unbound.  The first picture shows the reverse side of the page with the castle sewn on, you can see the stitching.  I may cover it with something eventually but right now I kind of like it.

My name (obviously) starts with a B so I also sewed a cut out B on the very first page.

The front and back covers.  I doodled all over them with a white paint pen.  I will probably cover up the writing on the front where it says 'the story', as I really HATE how my writing turned out.

The rest of these are just some water colored backgrounds, and the page with the quote on it is the middle spread in the book.  Oh, and the black page is acrylic, I almost forgot that one Smiley

Hey guys, here are some little tiny pictures you can click to see more detail! I don't think I need to tell you guys AGAIN but I will say it anyway: I am the world's worst photographer.  Consider this my apology!

The cover, covered in scrapbook paper

The "A" and "B" pages

"C" and "D"

"G" and "H" (I somehow forgot E and F, I don't know why...ugh!)

"K" and "L"

"L" all alone

"M" and "N" is pretty empty still

"O" says Outdoors and "P" just says Put Them To Good Use so far.

"Q" has a queen ready to go on it but I didn't glue it in yet, "R" says "Read" and "restore your nest"

"S" is pretty close to being done as far as the collaging goes, and "T" is taking longer than I thought it would

"U" - (I swear I don't cost Under $5, lol!) I also have the Craftster Robot ready to go on this page, he says "Uncork the possibilities" so he fits here

This is "W"

I didn't take pictures of the rest of my pages because they are all pretty much empty, just painted backgrounds and some borders so far.

Also, I have a video done for this, explaining all the pages in a lot more detail, but it's 16 minutes long and Youtube only allows 15 minutes, so I have to figure out how to use the editing program to cut out a minute's worth of footage.  So far I have no idea what I'm doing so we shall see if that video ever makes it off my computer!

ETA: Okay, I got my video uploaded to a different site, not Youtube.  So ignore my Youtube references lol.  If you wanna watch it here's the link: http://s808.photobucket.com/albums/zz10/Elizabeth_burr/?action=view&current=DSCN5086.mp4

Okay, here ya go - flat and a little lifeless, but here all the same!!  My pages from the last two weeks.
First pages are inspired by this:http://www.squidoo.com/yourlifesentenceinsixwords Your life in six words - interesting concept and I had a lot of fun coming up with these.

These are all fabric pages.  I printed what I wanted to say on iron-on transfer paper and put it on some quilt blocks I started a long time ago.  These are for sure not done, I will be adding lots of sewn bits and embellishments, but so far I really like them.

These are all basically just backgrounds.  I plan on sketching/doodling around the words.

And that's it so far!  I think I am done, as far as the amount of pages I will be doing; my book is pretty thick now, especially with the added fabric pages.  But I have lots of little stuff to add before I am in love with my pages and I want to add more actual drawing/sketching.

Okay, that's it for my weekend posting, I feel accomplished now!!   Grin

Okay, so true to my word, I am trying to post my progress every weekend.  Here are scans of the pages I have done so far.

The black and white checked area at the top is actually a flap.  I'm not sure what I'm going to put there yet, but I wanted it to be interactive in places, so I like it so far.

And on this one, the black polka dot part of the page is another flap.

The bright green on top is the other side of that black and white flap.  I tried to get a good scan and photo of it, but apparently I suck and wasn't able to get anything that looked decent, sorry!!

On this one, the white part in the middle of the page is actually a sheet of regular lined paper glued on.  I'm not sure why the lines aren't showing up, but in real life this page has a lot more texture and is no where near as dead boring as it looks here, I promise.

I'm going to write inside the clouds, but I don't know what I'm going to put there yet.

Okay, so obviously, a lot of these pages don't have actual sketch work on them, or at least not yet.  But my theme is Storybook, so I am leaving a white space in the middle of some of my pages so that I can go back and write a story in my book.  I will be adding more art work to those pages too so that they have more interest, but for right now I just wanted a background to work with and an idea of how much room for text I'll have in my book.

The pages that do have a lot of writing on them, like the red friends page and the tree page, are probably going to be put together either in the back or the front of the story that I'm planning on writing.  These are kind of mini stories though, they are true moments out of my life, so they all belong to my story.  I was having such a hard time with the theme that I had to kind of change it up and think about it ina different way to get over the fear and get started!

Okay, sorry for the picture overload and the long post, just wanted to share my progress!   Grin

I love all those pages Nicole, especially the super shiny dragon! Cheesy

So, I packaged up my book, drove to the next town to get to the post office just a bit after it opened... and it's closed for no reason that I could see! No signs on the door to explain the closing and the hours read 9am-12pm.  Angry Looks like I'll be sending on Tuesday now.

Anywho, here are some photos of the finished book and the the last nightmare (and intermittent non scary dream!) All the rest of them are here:

Finally went back and put something on the first two pages since I skipped them initially.

The intermittent dream:

The last nightmare. This was the only one that includes something that creeps me out. While I'm not phobic of clowns, I am a bit weirded out by them. These were done with my trusty micron pens and a stash of cheap markers I haven't used in forever. I really like the way they came out. Cheesy

Promised pics. This is the cover, not all glued. And obviously, missing the words "Great Hopes and Massive Failures", my name and something else.

So I redid my first page and added to the other half of the spread - love rubber stamp alphabets!

Another redo:

Okay some new stuff. A two-page spread using my punched-out letters. I plan to fill the crossword puzzle with other words for "peace" and I love the Colette quote and my groovy fashion ladies:

Another two-pager. The art and the hand belong to my workmate's daughter - she's always ready to pitch in whenever I need something:

Last photo, I love this photo - I may add a crown to the little girl.

But wait - here's my super-fancy punched-out letter holder!

And I went thru my envelopes of stuff from the Sketchbook swap and found so much to add - I'll have glue on my fingers for the next week.

Here is some of what I have so far in no particular order

Oh my fingers are pink from spray paint, I forgot my scanner at school and can't find a camera so I'm using my web cam sorry for poor image quality haha

Fair warning - I'm going to post several pictures...  all full size.  Cheesy

My cover - simple, nothing fancy, actually kind of boring.  But done!

The binding!  Not the prettiest thing but its bound, and done!  Very proud of myself!

The very first page.  No words.  My theme is lights in the distance.  I'm not sure you can see it in the picture but there are fairy lights along the hilltops on this page.

This picture is one that I took in Asheville, NC.

The backside of this page says "We get burned by what's on the floor next to us"

I'm about to pack this up in an envelope and send it off!  Not sure I'll try this again.  But it was definetly a once in a lifetime experience! I'll stick with my own altered journal that has NO due date!

My sketchbook is in the mail!! I'm not particularly proud of my efforts, but I am proud that I actually did enough and sent it away on time!

My theme pretty much turned into "napkins"  Cheesy Cheesy

Here's a few of them. Please excuse the terrible phone photos, I didn't have my camera with me.

A tribute to one of my favourite shows:

Mae West napkin quote:

Folded napkin - because I ALWAYS turn my serviettes into origami creations:

Another tribute, this time to one of my favourite comedy groups IMPROV EVERYWHERE and one of their funniest stunts.

And bluetooth has stopped working, so I guess that's all i'm sharing with you guys today  Smiley

When I first got my sketchbook I had so many plans for what I wanted to do. Instead I left it until last night to complete so instead of watercolours and prettiness like I had planned, I got crayons and textas. Ugly lettering since my thumb is all swelled up and I can't hold a pen properly. My hands were stained black from the ink. I felt like a little kid making a mess. So depsite the childishness of my book I had so much fun!!  Cheesy

Plus I did my first even zetangle. As a double page spread.

I've finally gotten up the nerve to show you all what i've done so far. My theme is nighttime stories, which i have chosen to take very literally and illustrate parts from my favourite stories! I'm also thinking of asking my niece and nephiew to make up a story and i could illustrate that too!
Onward to pictures!
Pardon the pencil marks, will be eracing those!

This one still needs little nametages for all the dwarves.

This one isnt even close to being finished yet, but i like the candy house! I'm unsure on how to finish this one, any ideas?

I'm trying to decide if i should colour the letters in?

Also unfinished, but unsure on what to put on the second page... a treasure chest maybe?
