This is what I made for my mom for mother's day this year.
A lined casserole carrier.

I used some on hand stash fabrics, an old bath towel for liner, a small rope and ribbon. Love to recycle my on hand supplies before buying new. Feeding the crafting addicting without spending any extra cash Cheesy
First make a circle pattern with the diameter of 17 1/2 inches  out of tissue paper.

Fold tissue pattern in 1/2, cut on fold of fabric. You will need 2 for outside fabric, 2 lining,( use batting or I recycled and old towel) 2 inner fabric total of 6.

"sandwich the layers" and sew together...you will have 2 sets

I traced the inner circle and slit and zig zag stitched before cutting so that the layers stayed in place.
Take the top piece and cut a 6 in diameter circle out of the center,(doughnut) slit one side.

use bias tape to create a casing around the inner circle opening. This will be use to thread a drawstring through. I just used a strip of satin fabric I had on hand.

Sew the top to the bottom with the right sides together. The turn right side out.
Cut out 2 handles ( 18inches x 3 inches)

Thread your drawstring through the casing

I use a cotton rope from an old pair of pants but a shoestring works well too!
Attach handles on the outside where desired.
There  ya go...this fits the round or oblong casserole dishes.

made another one, a little less bulky. I only made it with 2 layers, lined it with a soft flannel.
