I've been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for the past 4 or 5 months, and I pretty much decided that if I get one, it will be a sort of sailor tattoo banner, like a little ribbon, with the French word for "writer" written on it.

Here's the general idea.  I just made it in like 2 seconds in paint, and I couldn't get the text to arch with the lines of the banner, but you get the idea.  I want it shaded in red, and I think I would like it on one side of my lower back or on my hip

I've always loved this, but I don't know if I would ever get it:

I want to get these:

They are Adinkra Symbols "SANKOFA", symbol of importance of learning from the past.
I already have tattoos in pairs in my shoulders and next to my hipbones. Im not really sure where Ill place this one, Im thinking on the side, on my ribcage, or on my lovehandles (how do you call this part of the body anyway? This was the best way I could explain where I wanted it.), one on each side.

I also really really want to tattoo the quote I have in my icon "Love steals us from loneliness". Im thinking what to do yet. I want it combined with a big drawing in my back, maybe Kurt Halsey or Exploding Dog. I dont know. I saw this girls tattoo that was a heart outline with some lyrics on it, and I love it and thought about doing something similar, but I dont know if I want that. Ill think about this tattoo.

[edit] Sorry about my bad English!

Kiwidragons, i'm interested to see you unicorn/dragon tattoo! I'm getting one soon, but i want to see as many designs as possible so i can be sure the one i'v chosen is the one i want!
These are some pics I took right after it was done, so they are kind of shiney-plus, it's hard to take a pic of the back of your own leg!  Wink I'll try to get a better shot of them now that they are all healed up, but this is all I have for now.

I started wanting another tattoo about 3.4 seconds after my last was complete.  I really want a bookplate (you know... "ex libris") but can't find a cool design.  Does anyone know of any art nouveau designs? I did the Google search and looked at EACH of the 30+ pages but didn't find "it".  Anyone into bookplates out there?

I love bookplates, I made some for my friend as part of her birthday present, heres a couple of them, not sure if they're tattoo material but I love the illustrations Smiley

The hubby and I are thinking of getting matching tattoos (CUZ WE ARE SO CHEESY!)  of a snake in the shape of the infinity sign (also know as ouroboros) with celtic knotwork down its back.  Reasoning for it - we breed and raise snakes, he is in mathmatics, well the infinity thing is self explanitory, celtic knotwork because I am scottish and he likes celtic stuff and the ouroboros is also the Aes Sedai ring (if you are a Wheel of Time fan) We may do the two snake shape (ie. there are two of us AND it looks like the medallion from The Neverending Story - ahh gotta love our geekiness).

I'm SOOO psyched I can't wait to get enough cash to do this!  Of course, it's a cover job so I hope I CAN do this!  I mean I'm okay with what I have if I can't cover it, but it's not like I'm beaming with pride about it anymore, and it's just some a prime spot for a large tat and I am LOVING this idea.  All my other ideas I keep being indecisive about, not this one!

This is what I'm wanting to cover...

And this is what I'm wanting to cover it with, with some clean up on the color work and roots

The stars because I thought it would be great to get the main part of Orion, which always leaves me with a sense of peace and knowing that I'll be okay whenever I see it.  That of course would go beyond the design and the bottom two stars would wind up being around my lower back, but the idea is to get it done in UV so it really shines like the stars.

On another note, how cool would it be to get other things that glowed done in UV? Constellations, fireflies (or Firefly Tongue ) that door in the Lord of the Rings, the one ring, ooh! those bioluminescent fish, jellyfish...

yaaaaaaay! i really don't think itlooks like it especially because i know that that's how elephants are, they link tail and trunk and walk around like that. i will totally get that tattooed as soon as i can.

here's another idea that i'm for sure getting. a couple of weeks ago i saw on miami ink this girl who did grafitti and had a tattoo done that said faith and if u looked at it upside down it said trust. it was pretty neat, and i had been thinking about getting love, but i don't know, i thought getting the word love, just like that would be cheesy. so i came up with this design. p.s. i'm not into grafitti, hah.

i just finished it right now and i luv it! if you look at it one way it says "live" and if you turn it upside down it says "love"

here's a more clear way of looking at it.

i love how it's like abstract and not so obvious. it just looks like a scribble or doodle if you ask me, and i love that because doodleing is my life! anyway, what do you guys think?

This is most definitely my first tattoo, going on my inner right wrist, in red.
Translated (roughly) : Hail to the Jewel of the Lotus or The Sound of Harmony in All Enlightened Beings
Saying this chant aloud is supposed to bring peace and joy, not to mention I think it's gorgeous. The second translation which I came across a few years ago resounds deeply with me, as I cherish the zen and calm I find in life through soft-belly meditation and introspection, but also because music is my lifeblood!!

This is one of the most beautiful things in the world to me:

I'd like to get it either in between my shoulder blades, or on my hip.
Now, not to be a stalker, but Brandon Boyd of Incubus has both of these tattoos, and I'm a huuuuge fan of his. I'd been looking into Tibetan chants before I realized that he had them, but I thought the fates were slapping me in the face with a biiiig thumbs up on this one Smiley

Let me know what you guys think!
om mani padme hum is on me forever..

i let the tattoo artist design it, he has done many a lotus in his time.
anyway, I say go for it!

ALSO, i want more ink.. Id like a tribute to my aunt who has passed away.. a strawberry with a banner saying "hope, faith, love",  an anchor, possibly with mermaid wrapped around? something about "homeward bound", Ive also thought about getting a portrait of my kitty Pickles. And my fiancee wants to get inked wedding rings.. Id rather have something matching thats NOT on my finger..

I am not sure if this is going to work but this is the picture of the top of my foot and the side.  Just got done jumping rope so my foot is all "veiny" but that's my pretty pretty tat that I can't wait to be able to wear sandals.  Ooooh maybe I can figure out how to make some really slinky strappy sandals.  Right like I have time to do MORE crafts than the million things I already have going . . .
Anywho, enjoy and thanks for lookin at my foot - and be glad you don't have to smell it right now!!!!!!

My next tattoo is going to be an alien bracelet on my right wrist. People have told me for years my dh must be an alien and it stuck.

This was the first design I was working on, but I decided I wasn't really crazy about all the swirls so this is what I decided to go with..

For awhile now I've always thought when I saw my friends get tatoos, "That's nice, but I have no clue what I'd want."  I have no aversion to tats but I couldn't think of anything I'd want.  Finally a month ago it hit me and now I can't get it out of my head.  I need to get a cross section of a chambered nautilus:

or

Not sure if I want to do the brown tones or the blue shiny look.  Maybe even just a black ink drawing.  I've been fascinated by the nautilus for awhile now.  I love the symbolism, once a nautilus grows into it's next chamber the previous one is sealed off.  There's no looking back.  Also there's something about it following the fibonaci sequence.  I think I want it on either my left shoulder or in between my shoulder blades.  Any thoughts or suggestions?
