This is what the towels look finished

First trim the towels and gather the tops.

Then cut 2 toppers from cotton fabric of choice. Sew right sides together, clip, turn and press.
Sew the towel to one side of the topper, right sides together. Then turn under.

Finger press the other side under 1/4" and line up with stitched line on towel. Sew the 3 layers together 1/8" from edge.
Next is the cut out. I machine embroidered a rectangle, but you can Zig Zag around your desired opened like a large button hole. Mine are about 2 cm, but I feel it's a little too wide.

Go here for the templates and a few more pictures

Let me know if it's not clear enough. Thanks

My friend, Carol, just called. She has received the package, and is totally thrilled with this bag! I'm so glad! I thought maybe she might not mind it, but wasn't really expecting her enthusiasm for it.
Similar to Bunny1kenobi, my friend likes that it rolls up. And, Carol likes the fabrics.
Those fabrics complement each other quite nicely! And I like the way you can roll it up when not in use.

I am so pleased!

Oh my gosh, that is so darling. I actually teared up a little as I too lived the farm life, still long for it, and love chickens. The burlap is so clever and the colours just perfect.

Wow - hoping for an IRL tutorial some day.

What?! I would so be up for another get together for crafting fun times!

It was a lot of crafts in one project for sure but I had the pieces so it wasn't so much work as starting from scratch. I'm working on a simplified version because I'd like to do it again but it's not a feasible project for multiples the way it is. I would LOVE feed back with your clever ideas and solutions. Anybody who wants to join this as a craft-along would be welcome, I'm going to keep at it and posting my progress Smiley.

Bella, believe me I was eyeing those uber thin fiber pages you sent me and wondering if I could include them in this sort of project. I still might!

Well done!  I can't show my son, or he might expect me to create a wool portrait of his budgie... and I'm not sure I can do that well....
