I'm in Cumming but work in Gainesville. I am in a craft funk so it would be neato to get together with some peeps and get my act together.

Tell me about it.  There is one in particular, Cast on Cottage, where my aunt and I went one afternoon.  NO ONE offered to help us and when we checked out, the woman said NOTHING to us, not one word.  Just looked at me and waited for me to pay.  I finally said "THANK YOU!"  and left.  I am never going there again.  Several other knitters have complained about them also.  What attitude!  Love, love, love String of Purls.

I came across String of Purls on the Marietta Square last week and I wanted to let you all in on it! The owner, Ginger,  is one cool lady with a great selection of yarns and supplies.  I hate shopping big box, so this is right up my alley.  Also, they offer knitting classes and on Thursday nights they have a "free knit" where everyone just hangs out and offers advice.  Also, there's free parking behind the shop. (very important in the square)  I hope that ya'll get a chance to check it out.

170 Roswell Street in Marietta 30060.

Also, the website is www.string-of-purls.net

I have to second the fabric store across from the Lindbergh Marta station.  I was there today and they are going out of business so everything is a dollar.  They had some *beautiful* shimmery silky stuff for 3.99 that I should have gotten...  I am not allowed to buy fabric unless I have a specific project in mind.  I end up buying it then it sits there...  Also, patterns for a buck, ribbon, thread, etc.  You may find something pretty cool.  Good luck!

I also want to add that there is a Value Village, too but I haven't been in there in a long while.  The Goodwill on Alph Hwy is kind of expensive, in my opinion, so I am always on the lookout for new places.

Can I be added to the email list for the North Atl craft group?  I live in Alpharetta and would be thrilled to host one evening.

There is a Goodwill on Alpharetta Hwy at the corner of Mansell. It's in Roswell, but really close.  Also, if you go further up 9 into Cumming, there are  loads of antique stores and junk shops on the way,  also another Goodwill next to Humpus Bumpus (used bookstore).  I'm sure that there are more but I haven't noticed them.

There are some of us in Alpharetta (South Forsyth) that are TRYING to get together for a s&b...  That's not too far from Gainesville.  We are attempting to organize on the North Atl girl post, maybe you could join us?

I was there... At least I got some work done on a project.  Smiley  We have to get together soon!!!!  I'm so sorry it didn't work out again this time.  Would anyone else like to make a suggestion?  I'm up for next Wednesday if you are...

I am so excited to be getting together with kindred spirits! (and so close to home)  For the past couple of years (since I've lived this far north) I've felt as though I were the only one within twenty miles that was not a soccer mom or engineer.  I have got to meet some of the Atlanta Glitterati a few weeks back, but of course, I had to leave early because I live a bit up 400.   Also, being the hermit I am, I have no excuse for not getting together with you gals!  It's just too convienent.  I am so looking forward to meeting all of you!
