21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Post Secret Swap Round 5 Gallery on: June 10, 2008 01:19:23 PM
I'm not a part of this swap but I just wanted to say that, as an on/off cutter, I personally have never cut for attention. I lie or divert if anyone tries asking me about it. While I'm sure that a lot of cutters do cut partly or completely for attention there are also some, like myself, who cut for the experience itself (I'm not saying it's a positive experience but it definitely is an experience) and the possible consequences of other people are an unfortunate side effect.

That's awesome! I love the idea in general and the fact my name is Hazel too doesn't hurt :p

summerluvin_ca - I think Hazel's a pretty timeless name actually. I know I've known all different ages of girls and women with the name. It just keeps goin' on

24  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Re: How should I finish my Nick in a box? on: March 18, 2008 04:36:19 PM
cute_anarchy - I love the perspex idea but time, funds and skill are against me there. Maybe next time Tongue

urbanchic1212 - I did indeed write Poncho on it, thank you for that!

Here's the thread for the completed piece -

edit - whoops sorry, must have gotten then mixed up whilst posting links to both threads in both threads
25  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Nick in a box! (Tarantino/CSI inspired) on: March 18, 2008 04:34:24 PM
Here's what I made for my sister's birthday inspired by the Tarantino CSI episode(s)

I did all the outlines in what I believe is backstitch (Not really an embroiderer), coloured in with watercolour pencils then covered the background with brown yarn of some description from Grandmother's stash.

The Poncho idea was all urbanchic1212 Smiley

Here's a link to it's thread in discussion and questions for another pic or two and related discussion.

Thank you so much. I'm really liking the 'Poncho' idea but I'm gonna have to work out what to do it with because I can't embroider on the edges of the canvas because that's where the frame is but maybe something in a permanent marker?....
27  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / How should I finish my Nick in a box? on: March 17, 2008 05:02:26 PM
Well me and my sister both love the Tarantino episode of CSI where Nick ends up burried in a big perspex box so for her birthday I decided to make a piece based on that but now I don't know how to finish it. The main work is already done (mostly) but I don't know whether to leaves the edges of the canvas or do something else. Any help most appreciated.

Here's an over all of it:-

And here's a random close up so you can see what's going on a bit:-

29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing with felt on: March 09, 2008 03:58:19 PM
Sorry if this has come up before, if it has I couldn't find it! I was just wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on sewing with felt. I have a gorgeous gray felt coat that was my sisters that I want to take apart and resize but I'm not sure how best to treat the material. Any help would be much appreciated.
30  COOKING / Dessert / Re: A dice cake on: March 07, 2008 06:11:03 AM
Very funky looking. By the way there is a food section - just look on the front page for cooking.
