232  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Beautiful Recycled Miss World Grocery bag costume on: November 01, 2008 10:28:55 AM
This is my very first contest entry on craftster. When I seen this one I knew I had to enter my daughter Chloe. She thought she was the most beautiful girl ever. On Halloween night she got so many compliments from everyone she kept sighing and saying"Thank you, my mom made it for me." like she was tired of all the attention!!!!
After about 5 trips to fabric store and no ideas for a costume, frustrated and only a week until halloween I made this from plastic grocery bags, fabric remnants, used canning jar lids, even the tulle was from her older sisters cosplay costume!!!  The necklace, which says "Save My Planet", was made from an old scrabble game tiles. Chloe found the boots at Goodwill and just had to wear them, so I used an old cowboy hat from my sisters neighbor to complete the outfit.
I hope you all enjoy. I know I sure did in making this!!!
(the date on my camera is messed up. That is not the right date, sorry about that. It should be 10/31/2008.)

I agree very beautiful. I love to make costumes but only my little ones will let me dress them up!! Although my daughter did where a kimono to the high school homecoming dance last year that I made. She wanted to be different. I think we should still dress this way!!!
I'd give it an A++++++

Great job
235  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Jar Lids on: September 12, 2007 12:26:17 PM
Yes my juices are flowin now!!!

I have done the card holder for kids before only with plastic lids... they didnt hold up at all. Good idea with the metal lids!! Oh and I could decorate them to suit the child!!

Thanks a lot for the ideas

Make stepping stones with them. You can buy kits or just use quick crete and make your own molds. You could make some really neat designs in the cement with them.
Or you could make a collage with them with other found things at the beach in a shadow box.

My sister and I were doing our yearly canning marathon and I just couldn't throw away the old lids. I have a ton of them and of course I'll have more next year(renewable resource Smiley )! Any ideas on what to do with them?
