1  COOKING / Dessert / Re: rainbow cheesecake...now with two attempts! updated 15Mar08 on: October 08, 2011 02:43:09 PM
I love this cheesecake! I've made it twice now and it's a huge hit. I recently used it for an assignment in my advanced lighting class. I thought you'd appreciate it. Smiley

The slings are both awesome also.  Did you use a pattern for these or was it your own doing?  I am wanting to make a non-ring sling like these.

My friend has a hotsling and I was curious about it so I asked her if I could see it. The design is so amazingly simple, and once I went on the site and saw how the sizing was figured out, I made one myself.

Thanks for the compliments!
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Presents for my new niece (Image & Project OBESE!!!) on: April 02, 2009 07:40:03 PM
So, I finally became a member of the Auntie club in my family. I have the two oldest grandchildren, so all my siblings got to enjoy aunt-hood and uncle-hood before my husband and I ever did. But that came to an end when my sister had a baby girl (YAY baby girls!!!). She was born February 20th and I've finally completed all the items I wanted to make for her (that is, until she's sitting up and I make a high chair/shopping cart cover).

For our family baby shower, I provided the dessert inspired from the book, Hello Cupcake!:

I can't remember the name of the font, but they were made with white chocolate and white nonpareils

Hello little lady bug

I also made her a little diaper cake:

It's wrapped with pink and purple pre-fold diapers (best burp clothes ever) and adorned with little sock roses

Spoon accents

And topped with a darling pink giraffe wearing ballet slippers

She wanted a diaper bag that her husband would feel comfortable carrying, so this is what I made:

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the inside, but there are a total of 4 pockets, spanning the length of the bag on each side (2 per side) a front pocket under the flap and two outside side pockets.

I had a bunch of material left over of the bag lining, so I made her a nursing cover. Hey look! Baby Dassa is there, under the cover!!!

She's just modeling, not actually feeding Smiley

The last item I made her was my favorite by far:

Dassa likes it!!!

I loved these so much that I made myself one as well

Ben loves it too!
I am in the process of making quite a few more of these to send with my mother-in-law to Haiti. She's a missionary and I figure these would be great for the women of Haiti. They are going to teach in an orphanage, add an addition to the orphanage and help out at a medical clinic that people start waiting in line at 2am for medical attention. I know it's not much, but I know it'll help at least a few women out...and that's good enough for me.

And of course, I didn't make this, but it's only fair to see the baby that inspired all these creations!
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Japanese Wood Dolls-Kokeshi? on: March 23, 2009 08:33:51 PM
I've fallen in love with the modern style kokeshi dolls!!! I see finished dolls on etsy but I can't, for the life of me, find any blanks to paint on my own. I wanted to find something similar to these (but obviously unpainted):

I can't find the blanks anywhere and I really want to make some for myself. Please help me satisfy my hours of searching.

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Making beads from rose petals! Tutorial included! on: December 30, 2008 08:28:14 PM
I wish I would've known about this when I was wondering what to do with my wedding bouquet. Now I have a vase full of a dried rose petals. A necklace would've been much more memorable.
7  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Need help with a spider costume on: October 25, 2008 01:22:36 PM
Hey everyone,

So my almost 4 year old son wants to go as Spiderman this year and since that costume is easier to buy than make, I went that route. My dilemma lies in my 2.5 month old son. I'm currently in the process of making him his costume. He's going to be the irradiated spider that bit Peter Parker, seen here:

I've constructed a black baby bag to be the black body, including the legs....but I've run across a problem with the bulbous butt. I initially planned on making it detachable using a modified cloth ball pattern Since he's still a little guy, I need to be able to hold him. How should I make the bottom without smushing him in polyfill but still giving him a roundish shape so he closely resembles the spider?

Thanks in advance!

Thank God my son is asleep. If he saw this, he would not leave me alone until it was his.

It's truly amazing.

I showed them to my husband and he said, and I quote: "Those are pretty sweet."
