11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Birds are beautiful round 3 sign ups CLOSED sendouts extended to 11/21 on: October 21, 2008 06:14:26 AM
I'm jealous of you early starters.  I've already warned my partner that I have a big wedding this weekend.  Two of my best friends are getting married and I've kinda taken on the role of the wedding planner.  I have tons of birdy ideas right now, but I won't be able to get started on anything until after this weekend.  I can't wait to get started and I especially can't wait for the gallery.  Happy crafting everyone!

Yep, well done indeed!
I am already very inspired by my partner and I can't wait to get started.  What a great way to start the morning.

I've been away from craftster for a while, but I came back just in time for this awesome swap!  I'm happy to be joining you bird-loving ladies.   Smiley

Yup, I'm inspired.  I totally just ordered a pack of those comic book boards and I am super excited about organizing my fabric.  I'm much too ashamed to post pictures of my craft room in its current state, but maybe I'll get some courage as things progress.  I love seeing what everyone else is doing!
15  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Man-friendly vegetarian meals? on: July 01, 2008 07:29:34 AM
Well, I am happy to be contributing a recipe here instead of just stealing everyone else's.   Wink
Last night I made something that was so delicious and so easy, and I just had to share it.  I sliced up some tempeh and marinated it in some kind of teriyaki marinade, then I fried it up with a sliced onion and a bag of cole slaw mixture (the kind with shredded white and purple cabbage and carrots).  I served it on top of some brown rice and was done with dinner in 15 minutes.  It probably doesn't sound like much, but trust me, it was so good.  My boyfriend (who is an avid meatatarian) said it was better than restaurant Chinese food!  He said he wants it every night from now on!

First of all, I have to say that this was a fantastic idea for a thread!  But it makes me sad that I don't have a Trader Joe's within a few hundred miles.   Cry

Also, in response to missmuffcake's mention of soyrizo, I really liked the taste but the texture drove me nuts (maybe ours was bad or something). It was really mushy and disgusting even though I followed the cooking directions.

You have to fry it up to get the crunch to it. I fry sliced potatoes in earth balance with a lid over the pan for 10-15 minutes, then take the lid off and flip the potatoes and fry for a few more minutes, then add the soyrizo and mix and cook for 10 minutes. It has never been mushy for me, maybe yours was bad!

I am gonna try this.  I've fried up the soyrizo and then added a can of kidney beans to the pan and eaten it over brown rice.  It's really tasty that way.  Even my non-vegetarian boyfriends loves it, although he likes most of the stuff I make.  He's practically a vegetarian now too...unless we go to a restaurant.  Then the lure of meat is just too strong for him to resist.

Now I want to go home and look through my freezer so that I can contribute to these reviews!

Hi there.  I just saw this post, so I thought I'd contribute my 2 cents.  I think you guys have already covered the craft shows (at least all of the ones that I know of).  Sadly, Memphis is very lacking in that area.   Cry

Rakuette, it's so cool that you're a potter!  I've been keeping my eyes open for classes.  Any suggestions?

Those cookies are so freaking adorable.  And the other treats look totally delicious too!
I want the recipes.  No, wait...I want the finished product!   Wink

Really great bag.  I second the "cut outs" idea, but it's also cool just the way it is.  That woodgrain vinyl rocks my world and I'd love to know where you found it.

Also, I love when pictures show book/cd/movie/whatever collections in the background.  I feel like I get to snoop inconspicuously.   Wink  Anyway, love those Eisenstein books!
