1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Halloween costume ideas for 2008 on: September 08, 2008 09:25:12 PM
ok heres my deal with halloween this year, ive lost a lot of weight these past few months so i really want to go as something cute/sexy, but im going to a show halloween night dubd Night Of The Living Death Metal(if you couldnt tell by the name its a night of the living dead kinda theme) where people are supposed to show up as undead. I would just not dive head first into the theme but since it was my idea i may get some strange looks for that.
with that being said im sure a lot of you are thinking, you wnt to be sexy and undead be a vampire, and i would love to... but i have braces.
also the costume cant have many sticking out parts because theyll be lost to the mosh pit by thrid band. Huh
sorry for the detail overload but i really REALLY need your help!
please toss some suggestion this way!
gah!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I need a shirt, suggestions? on: August 08, 2008 08:31:29 PM
next Friday i am going to warped tour(its an all day out door festival concert). I'm ready and willing to do a recon, maybe even make a shirt from scratch. I'm not super experienced with sewing but as longs as its not to hard i can always get my mom to help me.
here's my issues:
tan lines
shirt getting pulled down
heat
sweat
dirt
comfort

i would wear a cami to help avoid bad tan lines but they get pulled down really easy, but a reg. tank or t shirt would make real bad tan lines(i do not want a farmers tan), longish selves would make me to hot and white(the cool color) would show to much dirt.

gah so many issues. any suggestions on what to make, or even any suggestions on how to avoid the issues with just one of the problems would be greatly appreciated.

does anyone know how lace works with tans( is it like reg cloth or is the tan normally not so obvious?)

anyways thanks for your help and time

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / CALLING ALL MOTHERS! i need your advice. on: June 13, 2008 02:10:29 PM
one of my bestest friend is about 8 moths pregnant with a little girl. my friend is only 20(her styles kinda edgy-ish) but shes had a lot of expierence with babys and children and everything that goes along with it all.
so heres my question, being a mom, what were somethings(homemade) that you got at your baby shower and really loved/found to be useful?
I was thinking about making like a crib bedset(she was telling me how expensive they were). would that have been something you would have liked? also with the ones you have had was there an thing you could think that would make them better?(ie. plastic lining, more cushion, less cushion, easier ways to get it to stay on, different material) im sure at 3am some thought rolled through you head about how thing could be easier, thats what i want to know. actually i want to know anything you think may help. Huh i dont know anything about being a new parent, or babies, or anything of the sort. ive never even held an infant.
so anything you found useful, anything you wish you had, any advice at all would be so great and so appreciated.

also i was thinking of making a baby bag for her and her husband, something cute but still unisex so he wont feel weird carring it. so my question for you is: what would you like in a baby/diaper bag? how many pockets? dirty diaper storage? bottle cubbys? binky pouchs? and so on. so if you could give a discription of your dream babybags that be awesome!

thank you all so much for your time and input,
manda
6  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenges / Re: Craft Challenge #25 - Represent Your Hometown - Due Mar 1 - Mar 5 2008 on: February 06, 2008 11:14:51 PM
Does it have to be the city/town we live in, or can we expand it to our region? Like instead of just doing Castro Valley/Hayward, CA can I include all of the East Bay with maybe extra focus on my town? Huh
7  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenges / Re: Craft Challenge #23 - Super Ugly to Super Awesome - Due Dec 1 - Dec 5 on: November 06, 2007 11:09:46 PM
You can spend whatever you want on the extra materials you need for un-uglifying. Smiley The only spending limit is on the ugly item itself.

sorry to play devils advocate here, but if the only spending limit is on the ugly item itself then wouldnt useing something you were givin not really be going along with the challenge? you didnt buy it from a second hand store so there really no way of telling what it would go for. im really not trying to make a mess of all this but it just seems like the hunt for the item and the price tag on it are a big part of the challenge.
maybe im confused Huh
8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / A last all night with no worries or touch up kinda costume? on: September 27, 2007 11:41:50 AM
I'm still not completely sure what ill be doing the night of halloween, but my friends and i are leaning towards "Halloween in the Castro" an all night outdoor party in San Francisco. which means i need a costume thats gonna last a Bart ride, a long walk/maybe bus ride, and hours of walking/dance through endless crowds of tightly packed people, not to mention what ever parties that happen the weekend before.

so what can i be thats low maintenance, has comfortable shoes, and a jacket that makes sense both on and off? also i want to look sexy without looking skanky and i don't want to be the same thing as 100's of other people, but i still want to be something almost everyone will recognize.

so with all that said, any ideas?
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Whats Scary? Like real life scary? on: September 23, 2007 08:51:15 PM
i love the mirror idea.
and for decoration i think I'm gonna go with lawn gnomes, maybe paint they eyes with glow in the dark paint or some blood around they mouths.
now i just need to find a place to buy a bunch of cheap gnomes.
10  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Re: Pumpkins! Please share your Jack O Lanterns on: September 17, 2007 12:57:26 PM

my baby pumpkin!
he was about the size of a softball so it was rather to carve him. also i couldn't find a candle small enough so i had to keep cutting pieces off of a long skinny one. he still ended up burnt but i think it adds to his charm.
