21  Re: Pen Pal Swap Round 3 Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by mink_bikini on: December 07, 2011 11:35:44 AM
Finally pics of the goodies from my lovely partner/penpal bec99

First up two lovely mini hoops for my Kitchen, so cute, and the Heart motif is on some curtain tiebacks in the colours of my baby girls nursery, just need to hustle and make some curtains now.

Secondly a gorgeous Robot Fridge magnet, Noah was quite taken with this so it' snow at the top of the fridge away from eager hands.

Oops upside down, a lovely Christmas bauble cross stitched on plastic canvas and it just so happens to be in the colours of my Xmas tree decs, Red, White and Green (lucky guess hey?  Cheesy) and in the cute little bag were some fabric covered buttons, I do love buttons so these will be used in some sort of crafting for my (due Jan) baby girls room.

Thank you so much for everything, I know the time and care that went into making all my goodies and receiving your parcel has totally got me back into cross stitch again! You are an amazing partner xoxo

22  Suede Mini Mitten tree decoration & Tiny purse too in Winter Holidays by mink_bikini on: November 06, 2011 11:38:24 AM

I love to recycle and I had an awful Hammer style 80's suede jacket that I'd bought for the ugly to awesome challenge at the beginning of the year, anyway I've been working a lot on recycled leather on my blog and I thought it's time to get snipping and sewing with the jacket fabric so I made these little beauties. I even made another pair to decorate my sewing machine, y'know to keep it warm in the Winter  Grin

The little purse is Glue gunned but the mini mittens are sewn on the machine, I made a tute for the Mittens if anyone's interested.

23  Teeny Tiny Spell Book Pendant with link to Tutorial in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by mink_bikini on: November 06, 2011 11:31:34 AM
I made one of these last year for a swap but only now got round to making more for Halloween, made with a sheet of printer paper, scraps of Cardboard, Scrap of Leather and a Gold Sharpie I fully intended on upoloading the Tutorial to Craftster but there is already a great one on here I see.

Although it was for Halloween I think this makes a cute all year round necklace, I mean who doesn't love books?!

Hope you like it, I was lucky enough to be featured on a ton of awesome sites with this project so I'm feeling pretty clever and thought it time to share on here Wink

24  Anthro inspired Sweater with Ruffled Shoulder Action in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mink_bikini on: November 06, 2011 11:23:45 AM

I do love poring through the Anthropologie on line catalogue... then deciding I'd never pay $560 for anything I couldn't live in and making an Anthropologie refashion. This easy peasy refashion cost me $3 using stuff I already had to hand. Dollar store zippers 2 for a $1, and each sweater cost $1, so I saved myself a ton, now if only I had that money actually in my pocket!  Grin

Sadly although I am desperate to wear this I can't fit it over my enormous pregnant belly, but at least here in Canada it'll still be cold after baby is born  Wink

Here's the before shot, I love this sweater but it definitely needed some Shoulder business!

I've written a tute on my blog but there's a ton of photos and text to import to Craftster, if I get the time I'll try to add it here too, until then my blog link is in my signature

25  Jean Genie Floor rug in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mink_bikini on: October 03, 2011 09:37:51 AM
This is a project I finished over the weekend, it's made solely from denim scraps I had lying around begging to be used. I cut around 800 strips then folded and ironed them before stitching them down to a piece of canvas (formerly a drop cloth!)

It was a time consuming but fun project, I loved that I could work with the fray of the denim and make it more deconstructed and unfussy, I just layed out, pinned then stitched down, and man did it bust my denim scraps!
More photos and some other teeny tiny projects using up the rest of the denim bits that were too small for this rug, photos of all that stuff on my blog in case you're interested in seeing more.

Would love to hear what you think  Grin

26  Re: Sewists/Yarnies vs Papercrafters Rnd 2 Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by mink_bikini on: July 18, 2011 07:57:24 PM
Imera has asked if I can post photos of my goodies for her too so here goes, I rather stupidly didn't take a last minute everything in the box photo like I should have done so here are a few photos of the main stuff, all inspired by lovely craftsters, apologies for not providing links  Sad

A monster family

This little lovely was hard to part with!

I also made a cat ear hat and a Rabbit like monster for her son (my little guy has a similar one) and sent her a Crochet book which I hope will help her achieve her goal of busting out some Crochet goodies in the not too distant future.

I loved crafting for you, it was so much fun making something different and totally outside of my usual stuff.

Ok without further ado here are the lovely goodies that Imera made for me, this lady is seriously talented and I was so excited to open this parcel after the debacle that was 2 weeks of Canada Post strikes (urrggggh) and then 2 weeks of no internet (double urggghh)

Anyway I absolutely love everything Cocoa, thank you so much for such a thoughtful and well crafted parcel  Grin

A gorgeous letter/notecard organiser with some much needed new address labels, these two gorgeous handmade journals with is it Coptic stitch? so cool and can't wait to start using them.

These amazing robot notecards, mini matryoshka notelets and a handcarved stamp were all inside

So were these beautiful quilled matryoshka notecards, these are gonig to be hard to part with! and check out the Maple leaf quilled brooch for Canada day, so much hard work and beautiful.

and lastly some art for my son Noah, the theme was animals he loved and Patchwork like Elmer the patchwork elephant, he was so excited to see these.

Thank you so much again Imera it was lovely to swap with you.  Kiss

29  Test page halterneck in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mink_bikini on: March 25, 2011 05:23:05 PM
I loved the fabric on this top, but man was it ugggllly before I got my scissors out. I based the idea on a silk cami I thrifted and made a fold over cuff at the top for some interest.

I totally used the fabric with the grain going the wrong way but it worked because I added some elastic to the bottom so that gave it some shape.

Hope you like, p.s I think this is it for today, 3 projects and a tutorial uploaded, phewee time to have a lay down!  Grin

Unloved before shot   Sad

Feel free to drop by my blog for more refashions  Wink

30  Re: Invite Your Partner Round 17 - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by mink_bikini on: March 25, 2011 05:16:39 PM
My partner has some camera troubles and since I'm having a catch up on uploading projects on Craftster I may as well give her a hand, hope you don't mind Joey!

A large bag in Joeys fave colour and fabric pattern and a matching wallet

The photo is of both Gingerbread houses I've made but Joeys one is on the left, it's made from plastic canvas and takes ages to make but is so worth it for the cute factor, Joey loves Gingerbread houses too so we both swapped some Gingerbread items.
