1  Darth Vader: My first quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by starbuckRJ on: December 18, 2014 07:24:49 AM
My sister is having a baby girl, so my friend and I decided to make a Darth Vader quilt for our baby shower present. The baby can't use it yet, but she'll grow into it! We did it all by hand--neither of us know how to use a sewing machine, but the (hours and hours of) time was good bonding time!

We based the design of Vader off of the Lego Vader, then we found different Star Wars-themed fabric for the space around Vader. (It's hard to tell from the pictures, but we stitched in Vader's mask and suit details too.) Then we used purple cloth for the backing, to match the nursery.

Each corner of the quilt has a different ship (star destroyer, Millennium Falcon, etc) and a different Star Wars cross stitch. Here are the Death Star...

And Yoda!

I'm looking forward to doing more quilts. It was fun!

4  FINALLY - The Beatles Yellow Submarine cross-stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by starbuckRJ on: February 15, 2013 11:49:09 AM

Beatles Yellow Submarine cross stitch is done. Not in time for my brother's birthday last year, but just in time for this year!

I didn't design the pattern--not that talented yet--but I found it online for free, so enjoy!:

5  Christmas shawl for Grandma in Knitting: Completed Projects by starbuckRJ on: December 18, 2012 06:16:11 AM
This knitted up pretty quickly and looks more complicated than it is. A good knit-in-front-of-Downton-Abbey project. (Free pattern from Lion Brand.)

7  Year of the Dragon! in Needlework: Completed Projects by starbuckRJ on: January 12, 2012 08:19:08 AM
So, I made this for a good friend of mine and it's a total coincidence that on Chinese New Year it's going to be the Year of the Dragon, but I figure that just makes it more awesome. The pattern I used is available for free at www.twdesignworks.com. (Not any relation to me, I just like free patterns!)

It only took me a few days, but I was on vacation and working on it a LOT, so normally it probably would have taken at least a month or so for me to finish.

Hopefully this link works, I'm new to posting so they won't let me post a photo here...

Woo hoo! 10 posts, I can put a picture up!  Grin
