21  Rainbow Guider Owl in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by FruityLoops on: January 06, 2011 02:55:35 PM
Well I promised Becca I'd post piccies of the other Girl Guide Owl I made, so here she is Cheesy

I was commissioned to make this owl on the basis of my first guider owl - Rosie) for the 20th anniversary of the Staindrop Rainbows troop(? - soz if wrong term, I don't know much about guides!) as a gift for a lady who had been there from day one!!

Her outfit colours are based on those of the Staindrop Rainbows with embroidered trefoil on her breast, and they requested a tag with her name, title, and her dates of 'service' (on the back) embroidered on.

The name of the troop is also embroidered across the back

Alas she isn't quite 100% complete in these pictures as I hadn't any ribbon to hang the tag around her neck, but I ended up getting the most perfect rainbow ribbon to hang it on!!  Roll Eyes

She was presented to their troop leader after the 20th anniversary party and I was sent a lovely little piccie of them together Smiley

Thanks for lookin  Cool

22  Rob Zombie?!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by FruityLoops on: January 05, 2011 02:51:17 PM
Time for more owls??

So I've never been a particular fan of owls, I mean they're ok but I wouldn't want to marry one, and yet recently all I want to do is make more and more owl stuffies (see previous post)!  Not girly cutesy owls though, I make the odd girly one on request, but I prefer my owls to be a little dangerous.... like Rob......

Rob is a Zombie Owl. He wasn't always though. Poor Rob was asleep on his sofa after a long night of drinking and playing on his games console when unfortunately a zombie caught him at his most vulnerable (e.g. hungover and half nekkid!) and the rest is history.

Now he wanders the streets with a hunger for the living... or a nice tikka masala with pilau rice and a cold beer.

Watch out little vampire bush baby, he doesn't care if you're undead, he still wants a bite!!!!

Thanks for lookin Cool

23  Victory shall be mine!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by FruityLoops on: January 05, 2011 02:37:38 PM
I had hoped to make all my Xmas presents this year, but alas illness and time constraints worked against me.... but here is the journey of one of my handmade gifts this year, a stuffie of Stewie Griffin from Family Guy for my mate Sammy's boyfriend :-D

Stewie in design format with initial sketch:

In progress shot of the piecing together of Stewie's clothes:

Features completed, ready to sew back and front together:

And the unveiling of the completed Stewie stuffie:

In hindsight he's a bit too lanky and I should have made his head muuuch bigger, I didn't consider how much his shape would change when sewn together, but I think the recipient was happy with his gift and I certainly enjoyed making him! :-D

Thanks for lookin anyways  Cool

24  The Wampyr Sisters in Halloween Costumes by FruityLoops on: November 07, 2010 02:31:50 PM
Hi all!

Getting a bit snug to the deadline, but I can't let a Halloween pass without getting in my Halloween Costume entry Grin

So this year my friend Spammy and I decided to co-host a Halloween party at my house, and thus having costumes along the same theme.  Soooo after discussions we decided upon Victoriany looking (not historically correct by any means!!) vampire sisters!!

Not THE most inventive costume idea in the world I admit, but I put a lot of work into them and made most of both of our outfits and we luuuuuurve them and can't wait to find an opportunity to wear them again.  In fact I wore the skirts from my Halloween outfit to the supermarket today Wink

Soooo... what was crafted I hear you say??

Bought a cheap fancy dress sequin top hat for each of us ~ Removed black ribbon and crappy piece of net ~ Got the hot glue out Cheesy ~ Glued burgundy velvet ribbon round them ~ Dismantled and glued big black fake flower ~ Cut and glued cobweb lace veil

Found THIS awesome choker online but wanted to make as much as possible, plus couldn't really afford to buy after spending so much on fabrics and decorations (and booze Wink).  Soooo... Velvet ribbon ~ attached velcro to ends ~ Fixed flat back red gems as vampire bite ~ Attached red blood droplets [beads] to chain and attached to choker

Made some earrings to match the droplets on our chokers.  Apologies for the artsy photo, I only had the one I took for my folksy page!

I made us 3 skirts each for the look.  Black net underskirt for a bit of poof!  Red satin circle skirt.  Black glittery cobweb lace hankerchief hem overskirt.

Bought us each a plain black long-sleeved t-shirt from the supermarket ~ cut the sleeves to around elbow length ~ cut the t-shirts to a bolero jacket type shape ~ did a massive amount of gathering to a massive amount of black chiffon ribbon Undecided ~ attached frilly ribbon to boleros ~ attached squares of cobweb lace to the sleeves to make some drapey sleeves

(Apologies for the strange boobage of my dressform, to emulate my mahoosive boobage she wears a big turquoise padded bra which I tried to cover with my half-sarong, but alas the camera flash has x-ray vision!!)

Using some friendly plastic I also made my own vampire fangs with the help of THIS tutorial.  However apparently denture glue stuff doesn't work on my teeth cos even though they were custom made to fit my teeth they still wouldn't stay in and as such I have no piccies Sad

In addition we each wore a non-me-crafted top under our bolero.

I leave you with a parting shot of Spammy showing off her outfit, along with Arnold the Bat-Cat

Thanks for looking!!

25  'Ween preps - Pumpkin and wreath in Halloween Decor and Parties by FruityLoops on: September 28, 2010 02:37:41 AM
I squuuuuuuuuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Halloween Grin  I just wish it was a bit bigger here in the UK. I try to do my part though by holding a Halloween party every year, even though the list of attendees seems to get smaller as all my friends have kids and decide that costume parties aren't for them anymore.  Boring farts I say!!

Aaaaanyways..... on to a couple of decs I did this week Smiley  Papier mache pumpkin!

I'm afraid I did cheat a little as I bought the papier mache base from Hobbycraft, but this is my pumpkin gal after I...
- coated her with orange acrylic paint
- did some shading and dappling
- coated her in glitter glue to make her sparkly and give her more of a shine
- hot glued some fake autumnal leaves and then glittered the leaf veins (my first time with a glue gun, my new favourite tool!!)

Planning to pop her on the coffee table, on a nice black sparkly cobweb lace tablecloth, with some LED tealights inside  Cool

I've also been working on making a wreath this week for the front door Smiley  I took a polystyrene ring and covered it in rusty orange coloured ribbon, and then cut up some more fake leaves, and cut out a load of bats/skulls/ghosties out of foam

Then got the hot glue out again!!!  I started with the larger leaves and then added some smaller leaves on top, then added some googly eyes to my foam skulls n ghosties and added them to the wreath.  Then I recalled some grey-black [fake] roses I'd bought the other day and decided to add those around the centre.  And then I got the glitter out again and glittered the leaf veins and the petals of the roses Grin

And that's my Halloween fun for this week Smiley

26  Rosie the Guider Owl!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by FruityLoops on: September 22, 2010 02:39:13 AM
Wowser, I haven't posted anything on Craftster for literally months!!  Roll Eyes

Sooooo ages ago now (couple of years I think Shocked) I made a Pirate Owl for a swap, don't think I ever posted on here with piccies mind, but someone saw the one I have on my Folksy (I loved him so much I had to make more!!) and commissioned me to make a girl guide owl for her, and I couldn't turn down the challenge, so I present to you Rosie the Guider Owl Grin

Can't say I was ever in the Girl Guides or anything like that, but with a little guidance on colours and neckerchief and logo I think I got it about right.  I'm particularly proud of the trefoil logo.  I haven't mailed Rosie to her new mum yet but she has seen piccies and says she's perfect so I'm super happy.

Back view

And finally, Rusty the Pirate Owl (sans eyepatch) checking out the new arrival.

Don't you think it looks like he's just pinched her bottom??!!!!!

Thanks for lookin anyways Cool

Since I haven't posted about Rusty the Pirate Owl before, here's a couple of extra gratuitous shots of him in his full grumpy glory!

27  Re: Little Visitor 11 Winter Galleries !!! in The Swap Gallery by FruityLoops on: August 04, 2010 03:59:41 AM
Yey, so Katara volunteered to send me another package of souvenirs since the original went missing in the post, and it just arrived the other day Grin

My goodie bag from South Africa contained: some jelly sweets, a bar of toffee (kinda not pictured since it's already been devoured Wink), SA flag stickers, orange lip salve, some shells, twig pencil with flower on the end, beaded bracelet and ring, and beaded heart keyring, and everything was wrapped in a nice fq of fabric, yey!  Mr Toast has claimed the shells and jelly sweets for himself btw Cheesy

Thanks Katara!!! xx

28  Birthday polkadot dress in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by FruityLoops on: July 06, 2010 12:18:54 PM

I maded another dress, for my birthday this time Grin  This is the 2nd in my attempts to try and make an Igigi style maxi dress (like THIS).  (Here is the first attempt if you're interested)

Unfortunately I had bought the fabric a while back and didn't have enough to make it full length but I think for this fabric pattern it was probably better shorter anyways.

After lots of fiddling around trying to work out how to do the wrap bust I ended up draping it on my dress form which was a lot quicker and more effective though since I don't technically know what I'm doing it still didn't come out entirely well, and the sash under the bust was a bit wibbledy wobbledy and too long, so I made some adjustments... and made it worse!!  Soooo in the end I made a nice long tie in the same colour as the sash to cover it up, which I liked better in the end anyways as I like the look of the ties hanging at the front Cheesy

Anyways, for a change I got it made a couple of days before the event I wanted to wear it at, yey, which was my birthday BBQ on Saturday, hosted by Mr Loop's parents Grin  And here's all we laaaaaydeys that actually did come dressed all fancy pants (as was on the invite Wink)

And yes I am yet again half-cut in these photos, it seems to be a running theme!!

Thanx for lookin  Cool

30  I <3 Turquoise and Igigi maxi-dresses! in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by FruityLoops on: June 04, 2010 02:41:40 PM

I maded a dress Grin

I've got to an age it seems where I luuuuurve dresses, of course I have no place to wear dresses, so invariably I just wear them to the supermarket and whilst doing errands, but never mind!  I particularly love Igigi maxi dresses, but I can't afford to buy anymore of them, soooooo I figured I'd try and make something kinda similar.... I can't say I particularly achieved that, but each attempt might get me closer to my goal Cheesy

I had wanted the top part to be wrap style (like the Igigi dresses I have do) buuuut I had a limited amount of jersey fabric so couldn't play around too much with my pattern so went for more of a cowl neck (admittedly only mildly cowl though).  I had also wanted the sash to be in turquoise, but my online jersey supplier was out of turquoise, so I went for brown instead, and in fact I think this was a much better choice Smiley

And yes I am rather half-cut in those photos, I had a boozy afternoon with MiL yesterday, and I've definitely paid for it today....  Roll Eyes

Thanx for lookin Cool
