3791  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Sweat Shoppe Swap Round 22 (signups close Feb 14) (send by March 1) on: February 04, 2010 10:35:38 AM
This is the first I've seen of this swap and it looks AMAZING!  Sadly, I can't join this round.   Cry

I must say I'm surprised that so many of these lovely things are considered in the $7-10 retail price range.  Most seem like they would be NO LESS than $10 and often about double that.

I love this so much I am practically speechless.  Congratulations on using your junk for such awesomeness and for Dr. Coleman's request!

Wow!  What a great save of a mostly intact shower curtain!  I bet it's very sturdy.

okay, this is totally awesome. Now I feel compelled to buy shower curtains from a second hand shop and make purses!

You reminded me that in my stash is a sample shower curtain (you know the ones they hang at the store to show you the selection) and it could be made into something like this!  It's probably only 1/3 as wide as an actual shower curtain, but full length; also it's the fabric kind, but still.

Brilliant reuse!  I don't know that I've ever seen an upcycled air mattress, but now I hope I see more.
3795  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Re: machine embroidered bibs, on vinyl and ultrasuede! on: January 31, 2010 08:04:23 PM
Yowza!  I love working with vinyl and this may be the inspiration I need to finally learn to use the embroidery features on my 5 year old Pfaff!  [hangs head in shame]

Do you find a difference in how stretch vinyl performs vs. the non-stretch kind?  What about different weights?

This is really cool!  Any close-up shots of it?

What fun!  I may try this on toes when I get around to redoing them.  I've been hacking up worn books to make book safes and so have a great source of material.  Whee!
