1  Re: Big Project Stitchalong 2009 in Needlework: Stitchalongs by crafty_rach on: November 08, 2009 04:04:49 AM
Soooo ... that big project I was working on for a friend's wedding in May? Yeah, didn't get it finished by May ... and then did absolutely nothing on it between May and November ... I'm such a great friend :-p

But today I figured I should probably take it up again and hopefully get it done by ... their first anniversary perhaps?

2  Re: Rasturbated Posters in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by crafty_rach on: September 16, 2009 03:10:38 AM
Looove that thing ... I used to use it make cheap props for events at college.

Such as Sir Hotness, who is rasterberated, printed, assembled and glued to a large sheet of cardboard to make this 2m tall knight.

This post reminds me that I should make some more posters for my room ... thanks!!

Okay, here is my first progress shot:

This is what it will turn into:

*sigh* it's still at that stage where it doesn't look like anything yet ... well, for a while there it looked a bit like a rabbit but that doesn't count ... I need to step up the pace because I need it by mid May.

Cheesy Good job so far!! Wow, how challenging but it will be amazing when it's done!

I am going to start a big project soon ... well, not that big compared to other stuff on here but the biggest I've done so far Wink I need to have it stitched and framed for my friend's wedding in May:

Vervaco - To Have and To Hold

I'm gonna start soon, I just have to finish off my Dad's Christmas present first (umm, last year's Christmas  Embarrassed) which is a celtic knot I'm 3/4 the way through.

6  Mr Snowy in cross stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by crafty_rach on: December 17, 2008 03:02:45 AM
I made this for my stepmother for Christmas as she collects snowmen ... I picked him because I loved his cool hat!! It's a Casey Buonaugurio Designs chart called 'Let it Snow'. Originally it was meant to have snowflake buttons but they weren't going to frame well so I used a Rhodes-heart stitch instead.

7  Two Lost Souls/Pink Floyd shirt in Stenciling: Completed Projects by crafty_rach on: September 14, 2008 06:17:45 AM
This is a stencil I've been wanting to make for ages, I'm not sure how happy I am with the final product though.

I ended up using orange sparkle on the fish because they didn't look right when they just flat orange.

Inspired by Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd:
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell?
Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here

8  C is for slippers? in Shoes: Completed Projects by crafty_rach on: July 19, 2008 01:14:54 AM
Was walking through the supermarket when I saw these plain blue fuzzy slippers and thought 'Hey, I recognise that blue!!'.

Searched the internet for pic ture of his face and used that to trace the mouth and eyes onto felt, cut out and adhere with hot glue. Voila!! I want to put a cookie on the somewhere as well but my housemate argues it won't fit.

9  Re: Juno Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by crafty_rach on: June 17, 2008 04:46:45 AM
Okay, here is my cool stuff that I received today!! I love it so much, there's so many little musical references!!

Dancing Elk wristbands, as modelled by my teddy

Juno Slinky with one of my fave quotes

Juno pouch made out of a pocket so it has an extra section!!

Double sided cushion

Magnets!! So funny we both made magnets :-D and those orange tic tacs ... I'm yet to do a comparison between these and our crazy white ones!

And my fave item, with my fave scene and fave song!! I love this soooo much.

Thanks MFZB ... this was such a fun swap Smiley

My partner has received but she has been really busy lately so I am posting photos for her. Mine will arrive soon, yay!!

A bag based on one of her fave quotes (unfortunately sewing isn't my craft de jour so it's an exact replica of the bag shape they taught me to sew in school in year 8 lol):

She said she hoped someone would make her a hamburger phone cover ... I couldn't figure out how to make it a whole hamburger  Embarrassed so I had to go with this cross section (once again, my bad sewing):

Some phone danglies from shrinky dink:

Some juno jewellery:

Lol, actually it was kind of funny making the earrings cause I don't have pierced ears ... I never realised how strange it is to try to create something when you're not used to how they *function* ... so hopefully they're not too big or heavy or something.

Also, cause I'm a music freak I couldn't resist adding in the lyrics to this cool spotted wrapping paper I had:

I also put in a jumbo size box of tic tacs (mysterious Australian white coloured orange tic tacs lol) and some orange and white striped material with cherries on it that I bought before I realised I had no idea how to sew stretch fabric.
