21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / "Plane To See" on: June 07, 2007 09:08:39 AM
I made these bags from an old curtain; the best thing about that is there's still over half a curtain left for more!

The big planes are cut out from fabric scraps and sewn on, the small one is a stencil. I have a bit of a thing about planes at the moment- I think it must be because I haven't been away for so long!

 Any feedback welcome.

22  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Aeroplane Washbag Bag on: June 07, 2007 08:59:45 AM
My flatmate travels a lot with work and gives me all his aeroplane washbags to play with- I like working with offcuts, reclaimed or recycled fabrics etc so all my friends keep interesting things for me and these are the first pictures I have of any of my stuff!

The bags were plain brown before- cool tweedy-ish material but boring.

The one with the strap has a plane stencil in fabric paint that I made using some thick sticky back plastic (actually supposed to be fake glass frosting but works very well and is much cheaper) and the strap itself is a double length of ribbon, sewn on asymmetrically as well as a shorter length of ribbon tied to the zip (I cut the brown ugly ones off.)

The other has the same plane design but made out of felt and stitched on (this took a while as the bags are lined with waterproof stuff I didn't want to puncture). The zip tag is also felt.

Sorry about the other things and random numbers- I got the pictures done to send to someone and don't have any individual shots at the moment.

 Any feedback appreciated!!!
