1  Re: Givers and Needers Swap R3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by summerluvin_ca on: July 30, 2008 06:20:36 PM
Oh darn sumerlovin-I'd hope you rec'd by now. I guess Canada post is slower than I thought-grrr.
Hopefully soon!

Rest assured I have received my lovely package. Apparently the delivery person (not the usual one) left it in the mailbox of the flower shop I live above. The woman was a dear to bring it in for me as we've been getting showered on lately.

You truly spoiled me! I can't believe how much stuff that you managed to fit into that box! You should rent out your packing skills LOL! Thank you thank you....

without further adieu, warning tonnes of pics!

This is the whole lot! Wonderful fabrics, cross stitch kits, scrapbooking papers, sewing patterns, trims oh my!

The cross-stitching aspect of the swap: mamaAnn was a doll and sent 3 mini kits of cross stitch. One is a card kit, the other two are heart frames. She was very generous and also included DMC floss. I love it, my local place closed down and I am at odds at finding the DMC. Thank you so much for this!

I'm newly into the scrapbooking stuff. My dear friend gave me two books for my bridal shower and all kinds of die cuts. She is creating a monster. MamaAnn has helped my jonesing with christmas light shaped die cuts, beautiful 3d stickers and a wonderful pad about 5*7 sheets of different patterns and typefaces! I love it.....even better because it is all different types of ideas and patterns.

Two wonderful Jumper dress patterns. The girls are very excited for this! They always get a new outfit mummy makes for them for school and they've stated that they want the jumpers! And one even has the pattern for the white shirt and scrunchie for the hair!

be still my beating heart! I must live in a bubble because i've never seen chenille rick rack! And i love it. Buttons that spell out LOVE. Glass beads, trinket, bias tape, lace and did i already say FABRIC. I love the fish pattern one! My bathroom has to be fun for the kids and it is all fish! I have to incorporate this one too!
Fat quarters from Joanne's, they are gorgeous by the way. I love the paisley one especially. Holly angel fabric, purple flowers...zipper....

oh it's christmas in july!

My darling daughters were so excited because they were included in the swap. Included for them were hummingbird temp tattoos (action shot to follow), garden critter stickers and colourful stickers (maybe for a reward chart/chore chart)

Oh bless you mamaAnn. You are an amazing person! I can't wait to send your special thank you out!

Mandy and the girls!

2  Need Blythe owners help...no looking KungFuGirlfriend in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by summerluvin_ca on: July 04, 2008 04:07:57 PM
First and Foremost...to the American craftsters Happy Fourth of July Cheesy

I need your help dear Blythe owners (i do not own one)

I want to build a carrying case for Blythe dolls for my swap partner. It will look much like a travel trunk with various "stamps and pictures of landmarks" decoupaged all over the outside. On the inside I would like to make some drawers and a rod on one side of the trunk with a large drawer that will act as a trundle bed. On the opposite side I was hoping to do a little decor to look like a sitting room. It will hopefully hold 3 blythe dolls.

Here's where you come in. I've searched high and low on the internet for a basic pattern for a jump off point. This is one that I did using plastic canvas many years ago

however I no longer have the pattern or the case itself.

Could someone help me out with a link to a free pattern? It can be made from wood, I'm flexible.

If not could someone give me dimensions for the doll? What would be a good height and depth to work with?

I know I'm asking alot but I really do appreciate it!

Zoe is all ready for more yummies to come her way although i think we may have some sister fights when the goodies do arrive!

prepare yourself for some dolly nudity...

4  What is the name of my Granny's doll? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by summerluvin_ca on: June 27, 2008 09:40:41 PM
Me again...

I have not been having much luck lately and yet again I am here to ask you wonderful people for your help.

My memory is awesome and i can remember specific things from years gone by. Can you help me with this? My granny had quite a few of these beauties in her bedroom, adorning her bureau as well as her vanity. I found this pic on ebay and hope someone can take pity on me and tell me her identity? I have come up without luck using google although I don't know what i'm searching for.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Mandy

5  Re: Newbies Only Swap Round 9 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by summerluvin_ca on: June 09, 2008 06:46:18 PM
I am so thrilled that you received it already. Harry thought the guy said tuesday would be delivery. I'm so happy that you enjoyed everything. The plate was actually a kit that the Easter Bunny brought for me. I think he got it from Walmart. (less than $5) It's already treated and it came with a package of markers for the plate itself. After colouring on it you basically buff it with tissue. It is completely usable and washable.

Okay...so since Pinkie has officially received and posted I have officially opened the box! I dare say that I loved the caricatures that were on the box. I can't draw a stick man!

Without further adeaux....

I open the loverly box to find on top

okay, no problem i will wait to read it last....

I carefully explore into the presents to find

My very own Kleenex Cozie! I'll be honest with everyone here...Pinkie has some wonderful sewing abilites. We must have been thinking on the same wave length because I made one for her. (although the one that i made frustrated me so...) i just couldn't figure out the tute. I tried to wing it.

I totally love it!! The fabric is like a pinstripe suit. It rocks.

Digging further into the box, lo and behold what do i find....

A beautiful journal that pinkie made for me. The colours are gorgeous and i love that it is blank inside....i can put it to so many uses. My girls want to have it for their drawing but this is all MINE! I will be using it for future swaps (once everything calms down)

Take a look at the inside...

Awesome job. I have no clue how to do bookmaking so this is wonderful.

But wait a second there is more!

I will wear Red with Purple. I love this purse that you made. The strap is perfect length as I tend to wear my purses with the cross over strap. The fabric is Red with purple floral details. The lining is reverse with a perfect little pocket! I can see that I will be using this tonnes!

and the inside!

What i did not realize right away was that there was something tucked away in that pocket....

The bracelet is loverly! and after reading the note I want to put your mind at ease and let you know that it fits me perfectly!

Hope that your ears have gotten better. Thanks for the tip about the mini balloons!

Awesome partner you are!

Sorry for absolutely dropping off the face of the earth for the last bit. Everything looks awesome. You guys totally rock!

Thanks to Pinkie and Kish for you enduring patience with the extenuating circumstances. Mum is doing well after her 4th neurosurgery. Thank you for all the well wishes.

Harry is a darling. Poor guy had to sift through over 50,000 emails to find the one that kish sent. I've rebooted everything on this computer...and although I am still getting hundreds of emails (most duplicate) it is so much better.
He managed to convince the guy at the post office to get my parcel. As promised I have not opened it yet. It's just not fair until Pinkie gets to open hers too.

But I managed to snap some pics of the lovely box that pinkie drew on. If the artistic abilities on that box matches what is inside I will be thrilled!

Looks like my kitties want at it as much as i do. Princess is the larger of the 2 black cats. QT PI  is our black kittie. I was shocked that my Harley didn't jump up to get in the pic!

7  Shrinky dink Butterfly puzzle necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by summerluvin_ca on: April 22, 2008 07:13:19 PM
I have absolutely fallen in love with the shrinky dinks. I am probably the only person that did not do them as a child.

My DD had a bookfair at her school and I found this awesome book from the Klutz company called Shrink art Jewellery.

This happens to be a project within the book. I've been using the toaster oven to bake them in and I haven't had any issues with them at all (knock on wood)

I wanted to have the butterfly wings with some curve so I took it out of the toaster oven before it fully straightened out.

sorry for the tiny pic as I am currently using a cell phone to take the pic.

8  My new Chinese inspired purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by summerluvin_ca on: April 22, 2008 07:03:00 PM
I just had to let all you lovelies know just how much you inspire me!

I really get frustrated when I am searching for a purse because

a) they tend to be itsy bitsy
b) i really couldn't care for the style or colour.

I never really cared to carry a purse in the past but over the last couple of years I have been. I end up with everything I own in them....Pity the fool that tries to purse snatch me Wink

Without further ado, here are some pics. (taken with a cell phone camera)

the purse

close up of the lovely dragon

and I was told to tie the coin/ medallion onto the purse with red ribbon to bring good luck and fortune

It is a simplicity pattern that I used and I fell in love with the character fabric
I lined the purse with the same rich red fabric that i used for the bow on the handle.

Thanks for letting me share this with you!
