11  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by cardigan on: December 19, 2007 11:39:07 PM
I have two tattoos and I love them both!
This is the first one:

And to save you all from asking the inevitable 'cool... but what is it??' I will just explain it! It was a totally spur of the moment type thing, and me and the tattooist sat down for a few hours planning it out together, I told him I wanted a spider and he knew me and thought a spider was too boring and 'normal' for me, so he suggested making it into a kind of woman/spider a REAL black widow! This is what we came up with, though sometimes Im not entirely sure I like the web, usually thats all you can see and it looks kind of weird!

Number two:

I had this planned for ages (I found the picture in a book of fairys my MUM had when she was a kid!) and thought it would be an awesome tattoo. I really like the placing of it on my ankle, but I didnt really like having to walk around for the next few days!

The jacket:

It's a wee bit big around the shoulders and armpits, but the way I see it, when winter rolls around and Im wearing about 10 tops under it it'l be a good thing its slightly large!
And yes, I am wearing my pyjama pants, but its midnight so forgive me!

The button photo frame:

i'm not much of a photo frame kinda gal, heck all my photos are on the computer! But I looove this, because I am so in love with buttons Jane, how did you know?! I think I might put a photo of me and my sister in it from when we were kids.
Janes daughters glued the buttons on, and they did a great job, they are stuck on really well and the placement it awesome! Thank them for me. =)

I may go take a photo of me in the bikini, but its super cold!

I am so bloody brave to be posting this, me in the bikini:

You would not believe how long I have wanted a crochet bikini and Jane didnt even let on that she was making one! (well two, sadly Im passing the smaller one onto a friend..)

18  My mums picture (WARNING: bad language) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by cardigan on: August 07, 2007 04:50:40 AM
My mum is doing an art corse at the local polytech.
She made this piece and had to talk about it in front of the class, this is what she said:

"I call this piece 'Railspike and Three Horseshoes'. I assembled it from found objects. The spike and horse shoes are from St Andrews railway track and beach. The fabric is from our dress-up box and I found the frame in Jason's office. This work represents the coming of age of rail, subsequently signalling the end of importance for the horse. I thought about using four horseshoes but realised completing the pattern could be seen as unlucky for some. Also the three horseshoes symbolise a three-legged horse, i.e. something which has outlived its usefulness.
I have used the silk fabric and gilt frame to evoke a bygone era; a more genteel, less hectic time perhaps?"

And this is the picture:

I laughed so hard when I saw this, and then read what she wrote about it.
When she was talking to her class she kept a totally straight face and acted as if she didn't realise what word she had created.
Some people figured out what it was instantly, others took a long time, and more still COULDN'T figure it out and had to be told.

I love my mummy =)

I didnt really want to put the warning in the title, but I knew I had to, since there are kids as young as 13 on the site.
Hope it didnt spoil the picture any!

What does everyone think?
