1  Tablet/iPad Cover & Stand in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by madpimp on: September 26, 2011 01:19:49 AM
My husband gave me a Xoom this year as an early birthday gift.  At that time I was 8 and a half months pregnant (the baby's birthday is two days before mine!).  In a fit of crazy nesting instinct, I made this tablet cover and stand in less than two hours.  It was super easy to make and to this day I still use it!

This project was very easy and could probably be used for an iPad as well! If there's any interest, I can probably put up a tutorial, just let me know. Smiley

2  Infant Gnome Costume in Halloween Costumes by madpimp on: September 25, 2011 01:20:07 PM
Had this cute idea for the baby and HAD to try it out!  It was so easy (took less than 30 minutes) and it's super comfy for the baby because everything is made from pre-made baby clothes (even though there's a picture of him crying it's not because it was uncomfy haha)

And... an angry gnome

5  What do transformers, pirates and owls have in common? in Quilting: Completed Projects by madpimp on: April 29, 2009 10:29:01 PM
So after making my first two quilts ever in one weekend you would think I would have wanted to take a break...  But no! Instead I decided to up the ante and try to make an actual comforter sized blanket... And here it is!  I'm really proud of it -- I didn't have to buy any fabric at all. This was all made from fabrics I had on hand at home.  It was really challenging and I probably won't do anything like it again in the near future -- but it was a really great learning experience!

I kept seeing this "coinstack" pattern everywhere that looked oh-so-pretty, so I just took it by ear, and it came out pretty well, I think!

Close up: I never in a million years thought I would be using transformers, pirate and owl fabric in the same project.

6  Living room quilt set in Quilting: Completed Projects by madpimp on: April 29, 2009 10:21:06 PM
After my first quilt, I became so enamored with quilting that I wanted to try out another one right away... So that same weekend, I took a trip to Joanns and bought this awesome fabric to make a quilt that would look good in my living room.

On the couch... I ended up making pillow covers to match with the quilt! It makes our apartment look really asian and pretty. Smiley

7  My first quilt! in Quilting: Completed Projects by madpimp on: April 29, 2009 10:13:40 PM
I've always been really intimidated by quilting... however, a friend of mine borrowed my sewing machine recently to make a quilt, and she made it seem so fun and easy that I just had to try myself!

So, here it is!  They're just 6x6 squares with a small bird applique on one square as the *point*.

8  Swine flu masks! :) [With a tutorial!] in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by madpimp on: April 29, 2009 02:04:24 PM
I thought I was being so original, but someone beat me to it! Smiley  Here's my version of a swine flu mask.

Materials needed:
Fusible Interfacing (optional)

Cut 2 pieces of fabric, an inner lining and an outer lining (12.5" x 5.5")

Cut 2 pieces of fusible interfacing (12" x 5")

Iron interfacing to back of each piece of fabric

Sew pieces of fabric right sides together along 3 sides (like a pillow case)

Trim corners

Turn inside out and sew opening closed

Pleat each side 1" at the center part and sew or pin to secure

What it should look like so far:

Fold front side over to back side and sew down.  This will make a tube on the side.

Cut 2 pieces of elastic (or you can use hair ties)

Thread elastic through the tube with your preferred method.

Tie elastic shut

Sew a 1/2" pleat at the bottom of the mask to shape to chin

Completed product back:

And enjoy!!! Smiley

10  Rockband T-Shirts! (And white ties) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by madpimp on: January 25, 2009 12:44:58 PM
My husband's school had a Rockband competition and we entered it!  There was a "best costume" category, too, so I decided to go for it (just in case we didn't win =])...

We ended up winning the grand prize~! Woot!

Anyways, here are the costumes!  I took black t-shirts and turned them into AWESOME ROCKBAND SHIRTS using the freezer paper method.  I also sewed the ties myself! Smiley

Our awesome shirts

Our awesome ties

Here's us performing at the competition, unintentionally in the right order.

YEA! Winners!
