1  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Round 10 - Places - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by pennydreadfull on: April 16, 2014 07:16:57 PM
YOU GUYS!!!! I can't even handle how much I love my hoop from Abbeeroad right now!!!

Here's the first thing I saw when I opened the package was the back and ..."Spooky NJ"

I flip it over and BAM!!! STRAIGHT UP AWESOME!!!

Zoom in for a close up of the spooky jersey goodness...skulls, gravestones and black cats!!!!

Thank you soooo much Abby, I couldn't have imagined anything better!!!!

I don't even care that it's past 10pm right now, I broke out my nails and hammer and hung it up. I am now basking in the glory of all my hoops!!  Grin

2  I carry your heart... in Needlework: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: December 26, 2013 08:59:18 AM
I made this "love note" for my DB for Christmas this year.  My Aunt once told me "one does not love deeply enough if unmoved by E.E." and it always stuck with me. This is a quote from one of my favorite poems by him.

Thanks for looking!

I made this for my partner, Mellifluous in the Vintage/Retro Halloween swap last month.  The pattern comes from the company Stitch & Frog who are just about the friendliest people EVER!
I really loved this pattern and it was hard to part with but she is a very awesome swapper and person who totally deserved it!

4  Long Tailed Elf Hat & Legwarmers in Crochet: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: October 09, 2013 08:52:15 AM
Whew! This project took me way too long to finish.  It wasnt difficult and I got like 7/8 of it done, I had half of one leg warmer to finish and to make & attach the pompom but Then. Just. Stopped.
Do you ever just get bored with something or find better things to do? LOL!

Thats what happened hereplus school started so I think I got a little bombarded with too many things that had immediate deadlines. Whereas the baby this is for isnt due until December so I kept putting it off. It is a weight off my shoulder to finally be done tho!

This WIP pic shows the color waaay better. The finished picture was taken at about 10:30 last night so the lighting was not ideal AT ALL. But I wanted to bring it in to work today for the woman I made it for (its for her first granddaughter) so I had to settle for lamp light.

This is the hat pattern

5  Re: Vintage Halloween Swap Gallery (Send Out 9/25) in The Swap Gallery by pennydreadfull on: September 25, 2013 02:00:46 PM
The little goblins in Jersey may have kept my package from Mellifluous hostage for a few days but it has finally arrived and I am thrilled to pieces!!
Be prepared to be jealous of this box full o' awesome I received!!

The first thing I saw when I opened the wrapping was this beautiful stitched crow with a red bead eye and it says it's my parlour!!

Here's a shot of the wonderful details on the back. Little keys and covers of actual penny dreadfuls! Plus that rabbit skeleton which I love!

I am completely blown away by the inside!!  Look at this!!!!
On the left is all sorts of goodies... A Siamese twin skeleton, the Fiji mermaid, skulls and skeletons galore, plus my initials all on top of pages from books of medical info and definitions.
Then on the right stands Mr. Edgar Allan Poe himself next to a skeleton, holding a skull and with a creepy human skull/animal body pet at his feet. Framed bats, Medusa head and a boy standing next to a dog-headed man all finish the room off perfectly...

Look at this gorgeous little table and lamp with tiny jars!! One has "The Hand of Glory" and the other "Fred" inside!  Grin

Mel spoiled the crap out of me.  As if my own little parlour wasn't enough, she sent me a CD of 1930s Halloween music, dice with skulls, Ouija board mints, little halloween rings and...

On top of ALL that she knit me the softest, warmest orange & black scarf!!! (Please excuse me, I've been home sick all day and that's my sick face and PJ's.)

I am so, so happy with everything Mellifluous has sent me. She took so much time to really make things I love. I feel so lucky!!  This has been one of the best swaps I've EVER been part of. Not only did I get spoiled with Halloween goodness, I've made a really great friend in the process!!  Grin

6  Autumn Cowl in Crochet: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: September 06, 2013 04:36:12 PM
I've been getting into a super "Fally" mood recently.  A few cool mornings have got me really looking forward to Autumn!
I whipped this up. It's a simple pattern I just winged using bulky yarn (Lionbrand Homespun in WildFire) and an N hook.
Chain 19, DC in 4th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, (DC, Ch 1, Dc), skip 2 ch, all the way across, DC in last chain. Turn. Chain 3.*
Repeat from *to* until cowl is desired length.
Attach pretty buttons that will fit thru the spaces in your stitches.

Thanks for looking,
C&C always welcome!

7  Chubby Teddy Bear Rattle in Crochet: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: August 24, 2013 03:38:23 PM
My oldest friend in the world just had her first baby last month.  He is the sweetest little thing!  She lives about 3 hours away from me so I only just got to meet him last weekend.
I wanted to bring something for him and decided to make this cute rattle http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/chubby-teddy-rattle
The pattern was super easy to follow but I changed things up a bit though, I used worsted weight yarn and an H hook.  I also didn't have a "rattle insert" and found out they're pretty much only sold in multiples  Undecided  I don't know when I'll ever be making another rattle and my craft area is overflowing as it is so...I had jingle bells left over from Christmas gift wrapping.  I just stuck them inside the stuffing of the head and it sounds exactly like a rattle!!

8  Octopus Pouch! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pennydreadfull on: August 08, 2013 07:21:26 AM
What Craftster Means To Me
To me Craftster is an amazing community of positive, creative and above all inspiring individuals!!

With all the nonsense on the internet today and the amount of negativity associated with it all, it is SO refreshing to be able to come to this little corner of the interwebs that is so uplifting, enthusiastic, motivational and encouraging every day!
One of my favorite things about Craftster that really adds to the "community" part of it for me is swapping!  So many creative ideas and minds working on similar projects all around the world and sharing their handmade goods with each, it's so wonderful!

I just participated in the One Fab Zippered Pouch swap and made this little goodie for my partner...

Front of the finished pouch.

This is a side shot to show the puffiness of the octopus. I stuck a little bit of stuffing behind him to add some depth.

Back of the finished pouch.

And the inside I used a different fabric that kept up with the Octopus theme  Cheesy

Here is an in progress shot I took while embroidering the octopus on. (I personally love WIP pictures of all the different methods and processes of creating.)

Something I also love about Craftster is how helpful everyone is.  I used this tutorial to sew in the zipper for the pouch.

I've been on Craftster for just over 6 years now and loving every minute of it!
Happy 10 years!!

Oooh look at this awesomeness I just came home to...it's a Zombie Southern Belle!! (making me miss The Walking Dead much?!)

nowheresound made me a fantastic pouch and I absolutely love it!!! All the separate pieces of her face are embroidered together. I love how the sheer green fabric is layered on top, so brilliant!
Now I just have to decide what to keep in it  Huh

Oh and the leopard fabric...an extra little goodie she sent along!

10  Slouchy Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by pennydreadfull on: September 21, 2012 07:58:26 AM
Fall is my favorite time of year and even the slightest hint of cooler weather gets me excited!  We had a few cool nights a week or two ago so I had an itch to make myself a cute hat.  Plus my boyfriend and I are going 'leaf peeping' in Vermont over Columbus Day weekend so I need a hat!  Isn't that the cutest term, I never heard that before until I started looking into the trip  Cheesy
I found this pattern on ravelry, http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tante-pose  It looked pretty cute and fairly simple.  I ended up using a hook one size up and chained 65 in the beginning. I followed the rest of the pattern as written.  I first used a different yarn, it was kind of an off white color but it was waaay too stiff and had horrible drape.  So I started over with this scarlett red color that I had plenty left of.
I love it and I can't wait for when it's cold enough to wear!!

Sorry for the crappy phone pic, I don't have batteries for my real camera  Undecided

Thanks for looking, C&C always welcome!
