11 HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Pretty upside down hanging plants. on: May 15, 2009 09:56:34 PM
I can't claim this one. It was my dh that did this up, but I really wanted to show you guys.
You know those topsy turvy things that have the upside down plants that you hang on your porch? DH made a couple for his mom for mother's day. He used the instructions here. But then he spiffied it up even more and stole some of my fabric and ribbon to make it pretty. And he gota nice chain to hang it up with as well.

Plant: .25
Pot: Free - recycled pop bottle
Chain: .75
Misc fabric, ribbon & potting soil just sitting around.
TOTAL: $1.00

Now he's doing some for our house too! YAY! Smiley

12 CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted Ribbed Lace Bolero on: May 15, 2009 09:44:49 PM
My swap partner has received this already, so I'm going to post it here. We had participated in the crafty detective swap and I saw on her wist, she was wanting this Ribbed Lace Bolero. As you can see, it is a knitted piece and I just do not do knitting. So I looked and looked at the picture and decided I could do a similar piece by crocheting it. No, it wouldn't be the same, but a close enough try.
So this is what I made! (Sorry I don't have anyone in her size here to model it so it, so the computer chair is my model! LOL)

13 TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Princess Dress Up! on: May 15, 2009 09:36:35 PM
My son (5) has a bday party to go to tomorrow for one of his classmates. This is the first girl classmate that has invited him to a party this year. When I called her mom to see what types of things she was into, she told me she LOVES to dress up like a princess. I asked her if handmade gifts were welcome or if they'd prefer store bought and she told me they LOVE handmade stuff, so I got all excited about making a little girl something all princessy! I don't get to do that very often since I only have 3 boys!

So I went and bought some tulling, pulled out this pink shirt that has been sitting in my craft bin for a year (bought it on clearance for .50) and grabbed the felt.

The end result is ...
A princess crown. It is yellow (golden) on one side and purple with embroidered flowers on the other side.

A shirt with the letter "M" sewn on with sequins.

A pink & purple princess skirt/tutu made out of tulling.

I'm so hoping Princess Mia enjoys her gifts tomorrow!

Wondering if there would be any interest in a plus size or BBW (big beautiful woman) swap? Maybe like size 14/16 to 30/32 or something along those lines. Clothing, accessories (that fit our larger necks/ankles/wrists), whatever it is you BBW body is craving! Smiley

16 CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Serena The Silent Mermaid on: April 24, 2009 10:25:46 PM
I'd like to introduce Serena. She is a pretty mermaid that is currently residing in the deep blue sea of my yarn basket. She is a svelt 13" long with pretty brown eyes and a gorgeous tailfin. Her pretty bottom is crafted of blue and turquoise wool. Her body is a creamy cotton. Her hair is a pretty seafoam wool and she is wearing a pink cotton seashell bikini top.

Close up of the bewbies.

Because everyone likes a little tail.

17 CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / I'm a hat making fool! :) on: April 23, 2009 05:08:40 AM
Hungry Caterpillar Cloche inspired by a hat I saw on etsy.

Spring Flower Cloche

We had tickets to see "Elmo Makes Music" so I made these hats for my three boys the day before.

A Koala hat

And just a basic beanie

Thanks for looking! Smiley

EDIT: Thank you everyone. I just added a free pattern for the Elmo Hat on my blog if anyone would like it. It's super easy. Takes about 1 hr to create.
18 HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Finally organized. Not really decorating, just organized! on: April 09, 2009 09:22:46 PM
The hubby got this awesome dresser thing from a guy he works with. After airing it out, changing some hardware on it, sanding it down and oiling it up, lining the shelves and all that kind of stuff .. it was finally ready to be filled. Yeah it still has scuff marks and stuff, but I really like that old feeling to it.

See my craft stuff in piles, baskets, bins and just everywhere in the corner behind my son?

The whole shebang

The pretty fabrics

I tried to make this pretty/pleasing to the eye, but it just looks kinda jumbled.
This is some of my buttons, my beads, a box of felt, my sewing machine, serger and some misc things.

Drawer 1 - Kids crafts

Drawer 2 - Sewing stuff

Drawer 3 - Misc craft stuff

Cupboard 1 - Bin of acrylic yarn, holiday fabrics, misc crafting pieces.

Cupboard 2 - bin of wool & cotton yarn, satins & fleeces.

Cupboard 3 - flannels, fleeces, minkee and then heavy/odd pieces of upholstry fabric and padded fabrics on the bottom.

It is soooo nice to know where something is. I don't have to search through bins and baskets for an hour to get what I want!! Smiley And my living room looks sooo much better. I'm not embarrassed when people come over now!
19 CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Ear band & Scarflette :) on: March 02, 2009 09:49:49 AM
This beautiful yarn was handspun by my friend, Ang. She did such an amazing job and she gifted me this gorgeous goodness. I held it in my hands and knew I just had to make something with it that was worthy of its beauty. I wanted it to be for ME, since I usually make things for other people.

So without further ado .....

And a closeup of the work ...
20 CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / It's an alien! It's a gnome! It's a gnome from another planet?!? on: February 03, 2009 10:28:54 PM
I sat down with some yarn, flipped on the tv, and before I knew it, I had this adorable hat finished in my lap! It practically made itself! Smiley

Here are my two boys modeling it. I like how it looks from the front, but the side view is TDF!! I LOVE IT! Smiley
I'm not really sure what it reminds me of. Not really a gnome. Maybe like a retro space helmet? LOL, I dunno, but I do know I love it!
