2  Re: Hooray for Craftster-wood: The Old Movies Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by dollbecky on: March 19, 2009 09:29:13 PM
First off Im very sorry its been so long in between package received and photos posted...  isadora12000  and her amazing work did not deserve that...nor the crappy pics
Real Life dropped some anvils on me Sad
But ...on to the wonderful goodies

this is the wonderful tote I got ...inside its lined with astronaut fabric!

A journal ...this left me gob-smacked its amazing!!! really you just sit and read through it its such a work of art..

one side of my apron!

the *other* side of my apron ...that's right I got a reversible apron!!!
Now I will show you the loot my family promptly declared was meant for them Cheesy
Actually it is my family's view that  isadora12000 was short changed on the package I sent
I only hope she doesn't feel to hard done by
This fabulous 1970s sci fi  mag was annexed by my husband who has decided we need to start collecting them Tongue thanks  isadora12000 that's what my family needs more book hoarding Smiley

This wallet isadora12000 sent for my 11yr old who loves it and want to know just where such "olden day" fabric is found Cheesy

And these are the the little extras that took this package from amazing to really over the top

I feel so lucky to have her as a swap partner...I know the photos arnt great but the stitching is so even neat (so much better than mine) and the shrinky dinks are awesome  (love love love the rocket ship necklace)
oh and the magnets ...and wow...so much cool loot
I feel a little guilty I dont think my package was anywhere near as cool
I was utterly spoiled
On to the photos

did I mention the bookmark the badges the stickers , the floss, the pins, the black beads the list goes on and on

4  I like crewl! in Needlework: Completed Projects by dollbecky on: October 11, 2008 11:52:11 PM
I love the 1970s versions of crewl patterns taken from the Jacobean era
this is a pattern I tried out when I was on holiday but as I only had 4 skeins of wool with me it looks a bit odd as I just used normal embroidery thread in some parts

I think its okay but the the back stitch fawn looks odd ...live and learn
I should have brought more wool but I was a little broke ...now Im lots broke and still only got 4 skeins Tongue (curse my need for esty skirts,  ss patterns and books) on a brighter note I seem to be coping with image posting

5  Russian dolls in Needlework: Completed Projects by dollbecky on: October 11, 2008 11:35:41 PM
I lurk; I comment; but I dont post much due to a crappy camera and an utter failure to understand the posting instructions but since this is my fav board (sorry curvy  clothing)I am going to try
I had stitchery block a while back but in the end I went with nesting dolls to perk up a pair of thrift store pants for work

I dont like how the middle line came out but when Im wearing them its hard to tell it looks sloppy
I found the pattern on a woodwork site and did different faces for them all also I took some wrinkles off the Mama .....she looked drained and haggard now she just sleep depp'ed  like the rest of us

6  bedroom for my 11yr old girl FINISHED !(not too many pics) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by dollbecky on: August 31, 2008 09:22:11 PM
My girl was away for summer and wanted her room decorated, since we were getting rid of her loft bed it seemed a fair request.
She wanted it purple, gothy and "cool"
Now we live in student housing(yay family aparments!)...so it's white walls and extra extra low budget decorating

This room is brought to you by;contact paper, rastabation my fabric stash, spray paint, street finds and mod podge.
and all the art work is clip art printout in grayscale then stained with shades of purple ink.
if it still looks a tad empty that because my darling comes home tomorrow and she will finish it off with post helloween sale  "treasures"
Im really proud of the way it came out and the fact the whole room is sub$ 100
There are no good pics but I stenciled sparrows on one curtain with the words "fly my pretties" on it in black
Oh and the photo with love across it is a pic of when my girl and I were both much younger:)
constructive criticism is okay too...I know it not going to be to many people tastes and it *does* look rather budget

7  spookygirl room ***PHOTO UPDATE*** comments? in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by dollbecky on: July 29, 2008 09:33:36 PM
Here is what Ive done so far (on my $50 dollar budget) ...thanks for all the great ideas!!!
Now what to do from this point ...stencil the curtains? more wall art ?
its always going to be a light airy space...but Ive done my best Smiley

Ok my darling girl is away for the summer and would like me to redo her room as we were getting rid of her loft bed etc. The colours are to be black & purple(by her choice) with the unpaintable  white walls.
The thing is she a slighty quirky for a 11yr old  I know her fav bands (tokeyo love hotel, AFI, My chemical romance) movie tastes (shuan of the dead ,lost boys, sleepy hollow Edward Scissorhands) so lots craftsters  might be able to make some sugestions
The thing is 2 years ago she still liked little girl stuff (dragons, fairies  pink) I want to support her growth into teenage tastes ....but I dont want to go to a lot of effort for a room that will be disliked in 6 months..  How far do I go ?
She might grow out of this goth/emo phase after all (I kind of doubt it)
I was thinking of printing big black star or skulls on some purple gingham for the curtains and spray painting the junkie faux wood bookshelves and desk black with purple accents  ....maybe a wall art rasterbation but what of Huh a band that might not be in vogue next month?  and I cant bring myself to put zombie pictures in my baby's room now matter how much she might like it .
Help me be a cool (ish) mother
Come on ..some one here must be under 20 or still with 'IT'
