1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Onesie patterns? on: April 08, 2009 05:16:41 PM
One of my best friends has a baby shower coming up (I'm so excited!!! she's the first one of my close friends to have a baby), and I'm buying her a couple small gifts, but I want to make some cloth diapers and onesies/jumpers for her as well.  There are plenty of free diaper patterns, but I can't find any for onesies! Does anyone know where to find a free one?  I'm a poor college student, and between the other small gifts and the fabric, I really don't have money to spend on patterns as well.

I've been going back through the posts and gotten a few ideas already, but my dilemna is that my boyfriend recently moved an hour away, and so now during the week I live by myself.  It's the first time I've lived alone, I've always had my mom or other roommates.  And I'm having trouble coming up with vegetarian or vegan meals small enough for one person, that won't leave me with lots of leftovers.  Even when I do something so simple as a box of rice pilaf and some cooked veggies, I end up having it for lunch AND dinner the next day, and I just get sick of it! (Although, I must say, vegan sloppy joes are one thing I don't mind eating all week, mm-mmm.) And I really don't want to throw food out.

Right now the only one-meal meals I make are spaghetti or pasta w/ veggies and pesto. Any other ideas?

My old roommate and I made up this grilled cheese, we called it "Blissful, Blissful Grilled Cheese":

Wheat/your choice of bread
cream cheese
goat cheese
dill havarti
tomato slices
a couple leaves of fresh picked basil

She's actually not moving because she's too poor to move out of her parent's house, hah.  I really love the plates, though, thanks for the link!! I might see if I can make her some with hangers or dress forms on them!!

My best friend is graduating college with a degree in fashion design.  Her amazing artistic/fashion/craft abilities make it hard to make really cool stuff for her, but I usually manage to at least make her something cool.  But I really don't know what to do for her for graduation.

She hasn't been very motivated lately and hasn't been making many clothes until this past week.  I was thinking maybe some design supplies to keep her motivated. So far, my only idea is to get her some zippers (I live in a semi-rural area, and we don't have anywhere to get cool fabric, but I can get zippers!), does anyone else have ideas of something essential for fashion design?

The other idea I have is to stencil a pig on to something, but I have no idea what!  She really likes animals, especially dogs, pigs and cows.

She also likes really silly things, mexican folk art, LOVES bjork.

This is a little carrot d-i-y tattoo on my hip. this picture is from when my friend first did it, but she was afraid to go very deep, so it faded after a couple weeks. i have since redone it myself, went a little deeper, and it's darker and better defined.

carrots are my fourth favorite shape!

I am in need of suggestions for a cheap, cute gift for my burlesque troupe, as well as other girlfriends. I want it to be something fun, maybe a little sexy. I was thinking maybe bath bombs or salts or maybe a notebook using x-rated playing cards, but I don't know. I was also thinking maybe something with wine glasses or wine in general. There tends to be a lot of drinking involved with burlesque. It needs to be cheap, like under $5 per person. So any sexy suggestions or instructions on how to do any of the above would be much appreciated.

"Jezebel Juggs"

you could make little journals out of x-rater playing cards by punching two holes in each one. for the cover, punch holes through five cards, and glue them together to make a thick cover. and then punch holes through blank index cards (you'll have to cut them down first), and then make a back cover. i use those round binder clips to hook it all together, but you could probably think of a cuter binding technique. like ribbon, or something.
