271  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / LaceyShrug! on: July 26, 2007 06:10:08 PM
I've been lurking around crafster for quite a while, but it's just now that I've got something post-worthy!

I finished this bad boy about a month ago:

I wasn't in love with the original pattern (found here:http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTlacey.html thanks to knitty.com!), so I made a handful of alterations. I wanted it to be slightly less airy and much less baggy... it took me several gauge swatches to get to what I wanted, but it was well worth the effort!

I used Alpandina alpaca/acrylic blend yarn on size 8 and 11 needles.

I am a fan of shrugs to begin with (they go with absolutely everything!) but I have to say, yours really stand out! And they look awesome on you, to boot! I think I will definitely have to buy the book.

Both of these are just gorgeous! I think the first is my favorite though... I think the pattern looks amazing in that turquoise color!

I agree with everyone else... this is a really neat alternative to the original design! Great work!

What a beautiful scarf! I think the color compliments the lacy elegant look very well. It's nice to see scarves that are more intricate than just garter stitch (not that there's anything wrong with that... everyone has to start somewhere!). Thanks for linking the site... I will definitely be trying this one out, once I clear out some of my WIPs!
