1  Bird Gear in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by kohoutek on: February 24, 2013 08:43:07 PM
This little bird was attacked by some E-6000 and a few gears. Then he was strung up on a chain. But I don't think he looks too bad after all that abuse... (I'm kind of new at this jewelry making thing)

I'm also new at this particular computer and I'm having trouble with my pictures!! Ahh!!

2  who knew pillowcases could be cool? in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by kohoutek on: September 20, 2012 11:18:08 PM
Quite some time ago now, (it's taken me a long time to think to post this) I got my craft group interested in making some pillowcases for the "One Million Pillowcase Challenge". Maybe you've heard of it?? Anyway, i think they turned out pretty cool! They weren't hard to make at all and once we got the hang of it they went pretty fast. We donated these to our church for one of the programs they have where families come to stay for a week at a time and attend classes and counseling. They'll be nice for the kids, i think because they're bright and colorful.
It was a fun project and we all learned a thing or two. I want to make some for us at home now!
  thanks for taking a look!

3  trick-or-treat street. in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by kohoutek on: November 08, 2010 09:50:34 PM
I'm not sure if this should really go here, but it is made of paper! I took pictures of poeple at work and "dressed them up" for Halloween, gave them each a little trick-or-treat pumpkin like the plastic ones the kids carry, and we went trick-or-treating! It's all in fun and everyone loves it. The people who were too shy are the ghosts and one lady is the mummy.

4  eek! first drawing I've done for someone else! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by kohoutek on: July 06, 2010 11:29:15 AM
Kind of a long story, but I'll try to explain quickly. I wanted to do a drawing of this man. Sometimes it happends that i just Have to try it. Some faces intrigue me. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't since i really don't know what I'm doing. He happens to be the priest at the church that I'm new to and i didn't have any photos of him so i asked one person (I wanted one of him smiling-- which is dumb, because i'd never done a drawing of someone smiling before. what was i thinking?) and then word got around and i ended up doing this as a gift for his retirement! Me and my big mouth! How do I get myself into these things?? The committee for the retirement party wanted to present it, but i said no, and like a chicken, dropped it off at the office with a little note. I was mortified, but what to do? As it was they ended up displaying it in the entrance to the hall and I heard nice comments as parishioners stopped by, but I was so nervous about the whole thing! I'm not crazy about a few things, but I'm glad I did it.

5  Chim-Chiminey! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kohoutek on: July 03, 2010 09:16:42 AM
My favorite Disney movie is Mary Poppins, so for a trip to the Happiest Place On Earth, Disneyland, I made a messenger style bag to take to carry a water bottle, $$, schedule and map, stuff like that. These pics were taken after I'd carried it around for about a year! (I made some backpack type ones for another trip that i want to post later) It's been a long time since I've posted anything so i hope i do this right...
I tried to choose a starry sky kind of fabric for the outside so it would look like the scene where the chimney sweeps are dancing on the rooftops and chimneys. (i cut those little guys out of felt and ironed them on)

I love orange, so the inside is crazy.

my first piping around the edge!

thanks for looking!

6  Three colorguard outfits in one evening!! Whew! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by kohoutek on: June 10, 2008 09:22:25 PM
Yes, we needed three colorguard uniforms for a parade the very next day. Why didn't we start them sooner? The story of my life... Anyway, my daughter and I got out our Generation T book and found a skirt and top that looked like they might work. So, after a trip to the thrift shop for red and black shirts and walmart for white ones we started t-shirt surgery. We made all three for about $25. They match the band uniforms and the flags they were going to use.
i've never posted pics before, so i hope this works! Thanks for looking!! Let me know what you think!

here the girls are warming up in the outfits we put together. The red and black t-shirts we got second hand. They each had thier own black leggings.

I love the way the skirt lays at an angle like that!

Here's a close up of the tops. The white ones we bought new. (A big package of men's undershirts from walmart) I should've gathered the black part a little, I think where it comes out of the white. Oh, well. That's how we learn.

A few safety pins were required.

Action shots!
