21  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Over the top bag from Quilts and More magazine (BHandG) on: December 15, 2008 05:16:30 AM
I have been wanting to make this little purse since I got the magazine and finally did it last night.  Sorry for the horrible pic but the fabric is a brown cotton with pink butterflies, the lining and handle is brown with pink pokadots.  It has a magnetic snap, no pockets..

This is a gift for one of my nieces.. I am mailing it to her today and I hope she will like it.

Let me know what you think..

I am not sure if this should be posted here so if it doesn't, please let me know.

I made the blanket top cotton (planets) the back is fleece and the pillow/pocket is cotton (stars- with batting).  It is quite large 44x88, so it covers my son's entire body (feet included).... I have seen these and the instructions say to just fold blanket into pocket but what I do is fold into fourths and then flip the pocket inside out so it is all nice and tight.  Very easy to make..

My son will use this for sporting events.  He can sit on for padding and when it gets too cold, he can open it up and use it as a blanket. He just loves it.  I have already been asked by my other sons and husband to make them their own.  Plus I have a couple that I am making for gifts...

Let me know what you think....

this is it all folded up but this is the back of pillow.  Wanted you all to see the colorful planet fabric

folded into thirds length wise to put into pillow

this is the entire blanket folded up into the pillow...

23  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New Bag w/pockets on: November 02, 2008 05:47:52 PM
I tried a new bag today... It turned out ok but I will be making some changes the next time.  I will be making it bigger.  This one is 8X10x4.  I would also make sure that my handles are lined up better on the bottom and make the handles longer so I can carry over my shoulder. Also, I would not stitch my straps until I actually add them to the bag. This way I won't have double stitches.  I would also make the 3 outside pockets bigger.  They are only about 4" wide each.

24  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Help with dimensions on: August 17, 2008 06:27:31 AM
I need help in figuring out if I cut fabric such and such. And do square box bottoms How much will the end bag dimensions become.  Example:

13"H x 16"W  and 2" square cut to box squares. 1/2" seam... Approximately what will my bag be? I know it will be 4" depth but not sure about H & W
25  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Ducks with Umbrellas ~ kids book/tote bag on: August 13, 2008 11:21:12 PM
I found this fabric and fell in love with it.  I made a book bag for my 4 year old niece.  She loves to go to Borders and now she has a bag to put her books in....

This is the first kids bag I have made and some problems with the pocket inside.  But she's not going to care...

Let me know what you think

26  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Breast Cancer Awareness Tote Bag on: July 29, 2008 04:59:00 AM
I found this great Breast Cancer Awareness fabric and had to make a great tote bag for my sister-in-law.  She is a breast cancer survivor.  I had a pocket cut out of the outer fabric to put inside and forget to include it.  I will on the next bag.

Let me know what you think.

29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Backpack~ Golden State Warriors gym backpack on: July 06, 2008 08:05:38 AM
I have been wanting to make a gym backpack for one my sons.  I was at Joann's Fabrics and found this great Warrior material yesterday and couldn't wait to get home to make.  I lined with red/orange canvas so I didn't have to put interfacing in it... I set grommet's on side seems.

I just love the way it came out.  Not bad for my first backpack..  He can't wait to take it to the gym today.

Please let me know what you think?

30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / HELP with Grommet on: July 05, 2008 07:58:23 PM
I just made my son the cutest backpack and I was finishing it up with the grommets to attach the cord.  I cannot for the life of me, get these grommets to set.  I am using the extra large 7/16 grommets.  The fabric is 1 layer of canvas and 1 layer of cotton.  I added some more fabric thinking maybe it wasn't thick enough but that is not working either.

Please help... I have already cut the holes for the grommets so I am pretty much screwed.  I have no other choice but to use the grommets now.
