1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted and then felted! on: May 23, 2008 10:11:40 PM
I have been experimenting with machine felting.  I made myself a folder for my pastel pencils combining felting and crochet.  This is a photo of the outside

...and the inside.

A close up of the inside crochet, and with pencils

I also made myself a pair of slippers - again I crocheted them and then put them in the washing machine.  For some strange reason they turned out different sizes.  They still fit, one foot is just different to the other. Roll Eyes

I started out with a flat crocheted piece, then sewed it up to form slippers.

At this stage they were enormous!  (That is my washing basket it's sitting on!)

Thanks for looking.   Smiley

2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi Nativity Set on: May 23, 2008 09:39:59 PM
I made this set for Christmas, but have procrastinated about posting it here! Roll Eyes  It took awhile but was great to do. I have wanted to make a Nativity Scene for ages - I was so pleased with the finished product. The pattern is from Gourmet Crochet.

Here is a close up

Another close up - this time the three wise men.

I added two shepherds to go with the lamb.  These weren't in the pattern, but I made them on the same principle as Joseph.

Thanks for having a look - hope you like them.
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / I've caught the amigurumi bug! (Picture heavy) on: October 05, 2007 11:52:53 PM
Here are a few amigurumi I have made recently.

It was Father's Day here in Oz a few weeks ago and I made my husband this little "Super Dad" doll.

I was inspired by Owly's super hero amigurumi (here https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=175399.msg1809537#msg1809537), and made up the pattern as I went along.

This little bird was my first amigurumi. Pattern here: http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/02/19/birds-of-a-feather/. Mine doesn't look as good as the ones in the pattern, I'm not sure why.

I made this flying pig for my daughter a few years ago, before I'd even heard of amigurumi. The pattern is here: http://www.roxycraft.com/Crochet_Aerial_Pig.htm

I made this hippo for my daughter's birthday last month. Here's the pattern: http://www.bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/03/12/hungry-hungry-hippo/

My son would love a dachshund and this was as close as I could get! I used Planetjunes wonderful pattern: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7036796

Hope you enjoyed looking! They were fun to make.

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My Waldorf-style Mermaid on: August 23, 2007 12:18:26 AM
I made this mermaid last year and she is one of my favourite creations. I based the pattern off a waldorf doll and her felt tail is handmade felt (made by a friend) and her hair is made from mohair wool. She is made from all natural materials except for some of her hair. I made her with the idea of her being a play companion for a little girl. I have since sold her on Ebay. Hope you like her! Smiley
5  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / New to Craftster on: August 14, 2007 04:51:05 PM
Hi everyone, this is the most amazing site!  Smiley  I have been looking for ages - my daughter has convinced me to finally post.  I am from Australia, and love just about any type of craft.   I have made soft toys, dolls, mermaids etc from natural materials, I knit and crochet, I weave sometimes, I quilt and I am at present teaching myself to draw and use soft pastels.
I know I'm going to really enjoy being here,
