11  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Another website opinions thread! on: June 28, 2009 12:24:22 AM
link removed for the time being. i am impulsively deleting everything and starting over!! aaahh!!

So, I worked on my site for a little too long. The clouds got to me, I guess, because I deleted my layout and downloaded a premade template...something I thought I'd never do! Tongue I'm in the process of designing a logo, but I have no idea where to start. Below is what I have so far - what are your opinions? You can definitely tell me that it's a bad concept and that I need to start over, because I totally wouldn't mind. As you can tell, it's been a frustrating journey for me.

The site is an online shop with handmade items by independent crafters, but it also doubles as a resource for various mental health issues. Overall it promotes positive mental health and provides resources and information to those who are interested, so I'm hoping that the logo would encompass ideals along those lines.

What I've designed is definitely not a finished product, and I'm not sure if it's suitable for a logo. Any ideas? Suggestions/comments/opinions? I would definitely appreciate any and all input! Thanks in advance!

12  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Bath Bombs - packaging and expiration on: June 21, 2009 11:45:14 AM
Hello everyone! I've been really into making bath bombs lately, and I'm thinking about selling them or giving them out. I have two concerns though: how to package them and how to figure out an expiration date.

I've had a couple ideas for packaging, but which would be the most efficient? I was thinking about packing them wrapped in a bag lined with a washcloth-type material...I figured, since towels are made of hydrophilic material, it might absorb any water and keep the bombs dry? Or it may just have the opposite effect that I am going for, haha. Either that or something airtight, but those just don't look as cool...any ideas?

Also, how would I estimate an expiration date for my bombs? I store them in as dry of an area as possible, but I really have no control of what the environment will be like once they leave my side.

Any ideas would be awesome. Thanks in advance! <3
13  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Getting a PO Box...worth it? on: May 29, 2009 12:30:50 AM
I'm about to start my own consignment shop/zine/distro and am looking into getting a PO Box in case I'll ever need one...but will I? I think it would look pretty professional to have a PO Box address on the website just in case, but to be honest I'm not sure how frequently I would be getting mail, so I'm not sure if paying the $40-$60 a year is worth it. How does having or not having a PO box affect you and your business?
14  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Writing a decent "About Us" page? on: October 09, 2007 05:08:15 PM
I'm attempting to write an About Us page for a consignment shop that I'm working on and I'm finding anything that I sputter out a little awkward. So far I've included the fact that it's a consignment shop and I even included some background info on the name, but I really don't know what elements make a good About Us page. I tried writing a little bit about myself, but I wasn't sure if I should do that since it's a consignment shop...but maybe. I already have separate pages for shipping, policies, etc. so that wouldn't go in there.

Ideas? Opinions?
