1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Round 7 Gallery on: February 03, 2008 09:15:22 AM
Karma Chick received my MYB, and she liked it. I have pictures of the stuff, but i don't have a picture of the ball. Hopefully, she can add it.

I started with a decoupage box of "stuff on my cat" pictures. It isn't great, but it was my first try.

Inside the box are stitch markers and a beaded row counter bracelet. unfortunately, the picture will not upload to the craftster photohosting.

Other goodies in the myb were bracelet, lip glaze, chocolate bar, journal, notepad, stamp, bloom loom, krafty knit hook, notecard, lotion, lipgloss, and Japanese toy.

I put this transfer tee shirt on top of the ball. i didn't think it was like the bunching.

Here is the yarn. I included Blue Alpaca Organic Cotton for a cat stuffie. it will be very soft. I also included some Moda Dea ticker tape for a scarf. I knew it wasn't my thing, but i thought Karma Chick might like it.

In the corner of the yarn photo, you can see my helper's nose. Here he is:

I enjoyed putting all of this together and crafting/ shopping for Karma Chick.

I just sent in my info. I'm only an occasional swapper, and I'd never seen the MYB swap before. this is such a great idea! it would be a great gift for my knitting friends.  must remember for holidays.

very excited. plus, i found the group well into the sign up period. i won't have to wait long to find out who my partner is.

6  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Harry Potter Scarf Knit-Along? on: November 26, 2007 10:57:34 AM
I've been knitting a scarf for a number of years. after the first movie came out, i started knitting one for my husband. I followed some internet instruction that said to knit with 2 piece held together and knit it in the round.

After using about 15 large skeins, the scarf weighed about 8 pounds it was like carrying a baby around your neck! it was one of my first knitting projects, so the weight didn't occur to me till it was done.

It sat in the closet for years. about a month ago, i frogged it and started over. I'm knitting the year 3-4 scarf from Charmed Knits, and I think it will be must better! it probably won't smuther the wearer.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: chopstick/dowel knitting needle tutorial on: November 14, 2007 12:31:55 PM
I've used oak, and it worked fine. after using superfine paper, try rubbing them with a candle untill they are completely covered with wax. buff it off with a cloth.

oak is a hard wood, so buy birch if you want the shaping and waxing to go easier. it will be cheaper too. birch is the standard dowel wood.

I received a great package from mimikachu.

These are altered postcard. . . so funny:

She sent a pouch for keeping tampons and a fob to hold a condom:

Here is a beautiful bag with different images of Venus.  I already have my current knitting project in it:

The final pic has a camille paglia voodoo doll and a flip book with about 100 woman quotes in it.  I think these are my fav items, but it is hard to pick.

This was my first international swap, and i loved it.  thanks, mimikachu. i had a great time, and i love my swag.
