The idea is to decorate your Pringles can, then fill your can as full as you can with crafted goodies.
For this round we will have a loose theme of Summer!
Think travel, grilling, backyard activities, gardening, sticking your toes in the sand (or maybe just dreaming about it!) Smiley

Eligible cans include the original full-size Pringles cardboard cans
(2) of the smaller medium versions of the cardboard Pringles can (when put together, they roughly equal the full size).
No plastic cans please. Be sure to thoroughly clean it.

Participants can include store-bought items, but please be sure that you personally craft at least 75% of the goodies in your can!
Also if you wish to send an extra can or a larger item with your can, please discuss this with your partner -- just please be sure to discuss it early enough that your partner can prepare for it.
We wouldn't want anyone to feel like they sent an inadequate package.

Outside of can MUST be fully decorated.
It's easy, fun and your partner may even put it on display! They make great storage vessels Smiley

You will be required to check in with your partner and post in the swap thread during the swap.
Any lack of communication or not following the rules will result in negative comments on your swap feedback
Let's just all do our best to make this a positive, fun swap experience! Grin

As always, Delivery Confirmation #'s or Tracking numbers are required!
You are required to PM me (Ma Rut) and your partner when you send, receive and post photos in the gallery.
This is imperative for receiving a positive, timely feedback.

You wouldn't want to miss any important updates, and you should be posting here with progress updates or questions.

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Once You Pop Swap - Spring/Summer Edition? on: April 05, 2014 03:26:38 PM
I hosted a few rounds of the Once You Pop Swap back around 2007 and was just thinking of how fun they were!

Would anyone be interested in this kind of swap again, focusing around a spring / summer theme?

Basically you buy a normal-sized can of Pringles (in the old school cardboard container not the plastic kind), clean it really well, decorate the outside based on the theme and your partner's likes, then fill it with at least 75% crafted goodies.

There's so much you can fit in those cans! Jewelry, embroidered items, crocheted items, purses, candy, cupcake liners, bookmarks, inchies, ATCs, small clothing items, etc.

Anyone interested? Cheesy

This is such an awesome idea for a Craft Challenge!

Below are my crafted goods for the Invite Your Partner Swap, Round 14 completed in December 2009. calluna and I had become friends in a past swap and decided to be partners again in this one. We shipped each other books that we had that we wanted pages altered in. Her book was a very prim and proper piece from the '50s called "The Art of Living", which teaches young ladies all about married life and how they should bend over backwards to please their husbands (gross, right?). So I had a ton of subject matter to work with here!

Other than a few Inchies swaps, I had never done much paper altering / scrapbook type things, so this was really fun. I chose the chapter "How To Be Loved By a Man" and highlighted certain parts of the text that I thought were funny. I used the spread to create sort of an angel (submissive) & devil (defiant / dominant) comparison. I used water-based markers and wet paintbrushes to create the hazy colors in the background. Birds have always been symbolic of women to me, so I used them in the context almost as daggers. Glitter is also seen as being feminine, but I love how much the context of it changes depending on the color and which side of the spread it's on -- seems to go from sweet and safe, to free and sexy.

"How often we intend one thing and it turns into another!"

"You are a woman with a thousand little pockets in your being where you can tuck away little pains until tomorrow. A man hasn't got those pockets. His emotional system is simpler than yours."

calluna also mentioned how much she loved orange-to-purple sunsets, so as an "extra" I crocheted a pillow for her in that color scheme Smiley
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Every Day I'm Hustlin' Embroidery w/ Felt Flowers on: December 24, 2012 02:10:55 PM
I just completed this recently for the December Pinterest Swap and thought I'd share Smiley

I love ironic embroidery, especially involving rap lyrics, like this one from Rick Ross. Gangsta!

Here's the video to the song if you've never heard it Wink
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / "Happily Ever After" Embroidery on: May 02, 2012 09:47:10 PM
I designed this layout in Illustrator and stitched it by hand Smiley This font, while complex, was easy to stitch! Thinking of doing a few of these for my own wedding next year, as centerpieces or general decor around the venue.

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Handmade flower hairpiece on: May 02, 2012 09:37:03 PM
I made this flower hairpiece for my friend to wear in her wedding Smiley It's a heavier weight satin-like material that I cut by hand (seven layers) and singed using a lit candle (if you do this, I *highly* suggest wearing sunglasses!). I sewed the layers together, glued on the fancy rhinestone center and glued the alligator hairclip to the back. She ended up going with a different rhinestone center, but this is a pic of the original I sent her while we were in the proof process.

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / My embroidery in stop motion :) on: May 02, 2012 09:12:20 PM
The finished product:

I stopped here and there (usually every ten stitches or every finished line) and took a photo with an iPhone 4 in HDR. I took it with me just about everywhere I went for four days, and worked on it where I could, thus the different backgrounds. My fiance neatly sandwiched it all together into a little video! Check it out here:
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / First adventure into felt flower-making! on: January 07, 2012 12:19:02 PM
I'm hoping to be accepted into a little indie wedding craft fair we have here in Atlanta, and got OBSESSED with making these awesome felt flowers. So many possibilities! Here's the first full bouquet I made Smiley My own wedding is happening this fall, so I think I've just become my own florist Grin

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / WARNING! Shipping interntationally... on: October 10, 2009 12:18:25 PM
According to my local P.O., effective TODAY all international packages require a new form. Not only does this new form require phone numbers for both you and the recipient, they also require that you list every single item in the box and itemize it. They only have four spaces for this area -- if you have more than four different kinds of items, you keep filling out the forms until you have everything listed, ugh!

This happened to me today while trying to ship a swap package to my partner in Canada. Of course, I was unable to ship it because I have no clue what her phone number is.

Here's a link to the customs form. The post office, of course, encourages you to fill this out online so you "don't take up too much of their time."  Roll Eyes Geez.

So I have an update...
These rules only apply to packages leaving the U.S. that are either (A) weighing over 4 pounds or (B) using the Priority service (including flat rate boxes).
