461  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My version of Marjorie's dragon IMG heavy on: June 15, 2007 11:49:21 AM
Well, this is the dragon I made for my 3 yr old son.  I added the little sword, which I just kind of made up on the fly, because the way I posed him, he looked like he needed something to hold and a sword seemed a logical choice.  His name is Darkness.  I think he looks melancholy.  Whaddya think?

My husband actually attempted to crochet a chain last weekend.  He swears that he was just bored and wanted to see how hard it was.  He got about 6 chains and gave up.  I think he secretly wants to learn but feels like it's not manly enough.   Roll Eyes

 Thanks for the clarification!!  Grin  Hey, I just noticed something funny! On the wings, where it's got the numbered rows, you had an 8 with a parentheses behind it and instead it made the little sunglasses smiley.  Haha!

Ok, I think I'm doing the right thing, but I want to ask to make sure.  I started doing the back leg and I'm debating about the instructions.  When you say this:

(6 sc, dec 2, dec 2, dec 2) 9; 9;

should I end up with a total of 3 rows of 9?  Or 2?  I'm taking it to mean that the directions in parentheses count as a row, then 2 more rows of 9 follow.  So, I end up with 3 rows of 9.  Right?  Or wrong?

I'm in!  I have a buttload of cotton yarn to use up.  When do we start?

I love this pattern!!  I actually saw the link on crochetville also and I made one for my son (he's 3-almost 4).  He loves him so much.  I can't express how thankful I am for people who come up with patterns and then have the generosity to post them for free.  Thanks so much!!

Interesting.  I tried to go back to that page so I could send those people some of the "proof" they required and it looks like her whole page is shut down.  Haha!!

Wow, what an a-hole!!!  I can't believe she's so blatantly disregarding the copyright laws.  I just started getting into amigurumi about a month ago after buying a pattern from ChezMichelle on etsy.  After that first one, I've bought at least 6 or 7 patterns from different people on etsy.  I've also used a fair number of the free patterns off of crafster and crochetville, but I'd never dream of selling any of the patterns or things made from the patterns.  I think it's awesome that these people can come up with their own pattern, much less that they're nice enough to offer them to everyone else at no charge.  That stupid lady should get one of those t-shirts that says "I RUINED IT FOR EVERYBODY".   I sent her an email that says this:

To Whom It May Concern

I came across this website

and I want you to know that I find your behavior reprehensible.  Many (if not all) of the items you're selling are under copyright and you outright stole the patterns and even the pictures from other people's websites.  I know this for a fact because the people you stole them from are spreading the word about your site.  One of the patterns you're selling even has "free pattern" across the picture because the designer intended it to be free and yet, you're selling it.  I frequent a couple of crochet forums and use a lot of the free patterns that are posted, but never for profit, only as gifts for my family and friends.  You should be ashamed of yourself.
