1  Re: THE JUNE GALLERY in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by JaneD on: June 21, 2007 08:57:06 PM
These three I'm calling my "Secret Garden" series Smiley I made these for a collage swap, the scanner doesn't like the dimensions so I'll tell you what the quotes say Wink

(P.S. The colors are much truer in the middle one, the scanner just washed it out)

Now, the quotes in order are:

"I never am quite satisfied until there is someplace that I can walk between the flowers."
"Remember the garden and dream new dreams."
"Just living is not enough, said the butterfly. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower."

These are my first serious attempts at collage so let me know what you think!!! Thanks everyone Cheesy

I made these for a Sunrise/Sunset swap and I would love any comments on them.. they're my first attempts at hand-drawn seeing as.. well, I'm terrible at drawing, but any tips from you master artists would be greatly appreciated Cheesy

EDIT: Silly me... ended up copying the same code three times.. they're all different now Tongue

So I found this technique in a book, for those of us who are... not so artistically inclined (i.e. ME!) : you cut out a picture you like in a magazine and gesso over it so you can still see features and whatnot and from there kind of make it your own. (Change the hair clothes etc) well... I started that and then I was too afraid to mess up the head when it was done by adding a body Undecided So, I'm sitting here wondering what to do with my fabulous floating head and this is what I came up with!!

Inside it says "The great and powerful Oz" Cheesy Enjoy! Tongue I'm rather pleased with this one (even if the picture isn't great)

5  Re: Here's a gorgeous background ... What would you do with it!!!! NE1 see clow in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by JaneD on: June 08, 2007 02:33:25 PM
This is my first digital card, and I didn't resize it (though it looks bigger than yours for some reason   Huh Anyway, I'm not entirely thrilled, but I threw in all the bells and whistles I had (in a program I rarely use) so, enjoy!! (hopefully)

I'm not sure I did this right exactly, but I saw these images in my one and only magazine (I yelled at myself for throwing them all out!) and thought they'd be nice, even if it isn't exactly how it was to be done I like them anyway Tongue

It's a series of four (my first series!!) The last two say 'sunny' and 'spicy' Smiley

Wow... these are some great cards!! Smiley Oh how I wish I could draw...

Here's my card... I'm not entirely pleased with it... the words are a lot about the card, but a bit or therapy too Tongue This is a lot harder to do without a theme  Undecided

P.S. The flash washed out the colors a bit... it's mostly greens and blues in the background... Wink

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback!!! This one was drying when I posted those... it's kind of scary... it looks like a soul-sucking monster to me  Tongue

I did use my white-out pen for the eye and teeth Smiley The blue one from before I used the white-out as a resist before I painted Smiley

These are the two I've done so far... I had trouble with getting the watercolors to dry quickly enough for my impatience... the first one I actually patted dry with a paper towel (hence the textured look). I haven't titled them... one I think will be something with music notes (it looks musical Tongue) and the other is supposed to be a groundhog... now you know why I don't draw on my ATCs  Wink

P.S. Sorry for the weird brown background, that was me trying to get rid of the cardboard I had them on Tongue

Edit: I erased the brown.. now it looks like they have rough edges... though I assure you they do not Smiley

Next two, Drive and Breathe Again, don't think mine is the typical interpretation of Drive though  Grin

Edit: I realize now that resizing it to an acceptable size has made it difficult to read Drive it reads as follows: ' I know she's watching my every move. Being her big sister makes me do my best. What drives you?' hope that clears it up for y'all.  Wink
