11  Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along in Craftalongs by Huff on: December 12, 2007 01:26:18 AM
Ok, i admit it... i've been lurking.  I've had the beautiful Poppet pattern for ages but just recently got around to making one.  She is un-named, I'll let her new owner (my niece's christmas present) name her.  She is also nude, i'm struggling to find something in my stash that doesn't clash with her skin tones.  She's apple green microfleece, and I'm pretty pleased with her.  She was so easy to make, thanks ghilie for the superb pattern.

Everyone's Poppets are so lovely.  It's really awesome to see the different interpretations and materials and styles!  I'm so happy to be joining the Poppet lovin' community.  And ghilie, you're an absolute gem!

13  Re: Craft My Theme Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Huff on: October 21, 2007 07:07:57 PM
I got my package from aliz!!  And let me tell you there was much squealing and laughter to be heard at my house!

aliz chose my theme Monthy Python - cos she's a Monty Python nut like me!!  It must have been fate!  I apologize for the plethora of pics... it was like my birthday had come early!

Here's what came out of the parcel - all nicely wrapped, with Python labels on everything

First an homage to Life of Brian and the correct usage of Latin Grammar - this is soo funny, I'm a grammar nazi!

it was promptly stolen by my resident bag thief.

And inside the bag.... more presents!
For this I truly thank you! My son and I have been sick all weekend and now that we're better my Husband has come down with it - this really made us laugh.
The Black Knight, with magnetic detatchable limbs!  ''Only a flesh wound!"

Next, very special dead parrot necklace.  He's pining for the fjords!  With some nicely cross referenced cheeses - Blessed are the cheesemakers, there's blue vein, gouda, swiss and camembert all of which the National Cheese Emporium does not stock!

Action Shot - That angle makes my bust look enormous!

Next an official Ministry of Silly Walks lead for taking the dog for silly walkies!

He cracked up laughing when I put it on him!

Gratuitous dog and baby shot!

Then an extra suprise from one of my other themes (Oscar the Grouch and Slimey), my very own Slimey!  He's the cutest little guy, creeping along the top of my computer screen now.  What a tricky little critter to photograph!

Thankyou so much aliz, this was a really special package and all beautifully made!  You've spoiled me in a big way, what a wonderful first swap!!

14  Pin Up Totes (pic heavy) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Huff on: September 13, 2007 09:57:18 PM
I decided that I needed a great big knitting tote to cart around several of my WIPs at a time, so I turned to my trusty stash of calico and whipped up a self lined tote.  As i was sewing along thinking about how very functional and terribly boring my new bag was going to be I remembered that one of my girlfriends had shown me a gorgeous Gil Elvgren Pin up of a knitting girl.  So I hunted her down, printed her onto a transfer and voila...  Pin up knitting bag

Terrible pics of inside, there are lots of different sized pockets for needles etc.

The story continues!  My mum saw my new knitting bag and I was telling her about all the beautiful pin ups and that there was even a librarian (Mum is the worlds greatest librarian!).  So she asked if I could make her a library bag for carting around all of her books.
Here it is...

It only has 2 pockets inside for her mobile phone and keys and stuff, but it's a big tough bag with a pretty girly on the front.

Sorry about the gigantor pics, i'm having an extended argument with my computer about them.

Please tell me what you think!

15  A dead cat and a cute clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Huff on: July 10, 2007 06:39:13 PM
I got started on my christmas present crafting this week, so far I've done a dead cat bag from the craftster tute https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31718.0 for my neice Dayle the Mini Goth and a black denim clutch for my other neice Sarah.  Here they are...

The fur is a nice scruffy dark grey that I always have in stock to make bats, turns out it makes nice dead cats too!

Reg guts lining

Action shot, please excuse messy craft room!

This one is made from my black jeans that split up the back. I'm so happy they get to live on.

Sarah tag, there's one inside as well

Thanks for looking.  Let me know what you think!

16  Queen of Baby Food in CHALLENGE 19 ENTRIES by Huff on: July 03, 2007 02:51:32 AM
Ever since my son was born 14 Months ago, I feel like the world revolves around what to feed him. What is he allergic to? What's healthiest? What's new and exciting? Can a boy live on cheese alone?  In the process I feel I have become an expert or Queen of all things baby food related!  To celebrate this realisation I have crafted myself a tiara from on of the Golden Boy's plethora of bibs.

Here is the same bib in blue modelled by the Golden Boy...

Yummy chicken pasta.

And here is the tiara! A lovely green bib, made holey, then pretty.

Close up of the blanket stitch in the holes

Attached to a clear hair comb.

Modelled by the very tired Queen (who is terrible at self photography)

Thanks for stopping by, this challenge has been a ball.

17  Keep on Truckin' Clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Huff on: May 22, 2007 09:34:39 PM
This is my first bag/purse project.  I was out driving a couple of days ago and there were trucks everywhere.... I took it as a sign that I needed a Truckin' Bag.  The pattern is an old one my Mum had stuck in a folder.  It's black denim with a tiny ladybird print lining.  Please excuse my free-hand embroidery, it's been a while!
