1  Moss Terrariums (picture heavy) in Completed Projects by razberryswrl on: July 31, 2008 12:07:26 PM
I live in an apartment with no yard of my own and it makes me sad. So I decided to make some moss terrariums after admiring the ones I saw on Flickr: http://flickr.com/search/?q=terrarium. They are awesome because they pretty much water themselves! A self sustaining ecosystem!  These were made with plain glass lidded jars, adding a layer of gravel for drainage, a layer of potting soil*Note: Since making these I have since read that moss shouldn't be grown on potting soil with fertilizer. Best to use soil from it's natural habitat*, and then pressing moss down into the dirt.  I choose two different looking mosses that I found. I also added some kitschy miniatures in some of the photos. Tell me which ones you think I should include in them permanently!

Wow it took me a whole 2 years to finish this thing.  I put it down for over a year and then finally decided to piece the thing together.  I'm not super happy with how the yarn feels.  It's heavy and stiff.

I'm not exceptionally talented in the sewing area (just knitting), but I thought I'd share this quilt my friend made for me.  The occassion was for my graduation from a second bachelors degree i received.  This quilt is made from Amy Butler fabric.  When I opened up this gift I totally cried in front of a lot of people!!

4  Altered Cross stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by razberryswrl on: April 30, 2007 06:27:50 AM
The original cross stitch pattern said, "There's no such thing as too much chocolate".  The bottle was supposed to read "Hot Fudge Topping".  It was just too easy to make this hilarious.  This framed piece now hangs in my bathroom.

So it's pretty much Fall here and I haven't worked on this in over 2 months, but I've got a little break before fall quarter starts and I'm fighting the urge to start fall/winter projects and just get this over with.

I've completed the back, left front, and part of the left sleeve.

I finished the back.  I checked my gauge and have to use size 9 needles instead of the recommended size 7.  I'm just using some Sugar & Cream cotton yarn in Yellow.  It's pretty cheap. ($1.27 for a 70.9g skein at Hobby Lobby)

10  Beaded cluster Rings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by razberryswrl on: December 02, 2004 03:28:33 PM
My sister bought a neat Japanese jewelry making book and made me a ring.  I got inspired and made some of my own.

Here are some pages from the actual book:

The pictures from the book are kind of small. Go here to see them bigger (it's my photobucket album). http://photobucket.com/albums/v204/razberryswrl/  The text is in Japanese so that probably won't be of much help to most of you anyway.
Material required for this project:
Needlenose pliers
wire (20 gauge for the actual ring part.  and whatever gauge needed to fit thru your beads)
Something to wrap the wire around to make the circular ring part. You can buy a ring mandrel or just use a fat marker.
