mmm Fava beans. (sorry to just jump in on this) I love them. I'm Portuguese-American so I've been raised on them.. here are some yummy recipes you can try if you can track them down (they have them at all the Asian stores in San Jose in the frozen food area if you can't get them fresh/grow them) http://www.ifood.tv/network/portuguese_fresh_fava_bean/recipes

In fact, now I must make some for dinner!!

I love it! I'm getting one for Christmas (yeah not much of a surprise from the boyfriend) and I've been looking at cases and thinking I want to make something cute to transport it in (other than the leather case) so now I'm inspired. I'm pretty sure I'll have it made before I even get the darn Kindle Wink

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Yudu Pre Printed Art Sale @ Joann's on: September 20, 2010 10:46:14 PM
I just got home from Joann Fabrics and was shocked to find their Pre-Printed YuDu Designs (the ones with Pandas, Trees, etc) for only $1.98. I bought three of them because I figured I might as well try them out on my YuDu for that deal. Not sure if it's going on at every Joann Fabrics but I wanted to let those of you who screen print/use a YuDu and don't mind using pre-printed designs that I found them on a major clearance. (On their website they are still listed as $11.24)

Happy Crafting!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fleece LGBT/SF Giants Beanie on: September 16, 2010 10:12:26 AM
I LOVE this idea ! I would love to get the pattern off of you if you are willing ! I want to make one for my boyfriend he would love it : ) You did an amazing job !!!
I bought the pattern at Joann's and just made the top of it a little smaller-- it's the Green Pepper Fleece Chullo Hat. I used the XL size. Even though I have a small head (or I assumed?) the XL fit me and my boyfriend well.

Thanks Smiley She had her own mohawk dyed rainbow a while back ago so I knew that would be perfect
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Fleece LGBT/SF Giants Beanie on: September 11, 2010 12:23:43 AM
I went through a very rough patch in my life and a friend I had made years earlier that I was out of touch with came to my rescue. She is a VERY proud San Francisco Giants (Major League Baseball) fan and very proud of being a lesbian. She helped me out a LOT (lost my career, had people speaking poorly of me, family issues, etc) and was exactly what I needed to get back on track. I consider her and my boyfriend my two angels here on earth because I went through an absolute hell.. anyway.. I decided (since I don't have a job) to make her something I knew she'd like.. so I made a beanie (she wears her hair either very very veryyyy short or with a mohawk and SF Giants games at AT&T park are COLLLD so I knew this would be a decent idea).. here's pictures (sorry taken with my palm pre camera because I was so anxious to show her):

It's actually not as squished as it might appear in the photo above.. (and I realized AFTER sewing it that the LGBT flag doesn't have TWO different blues in it.. whoops..)

and then the picture below is the side view-- before I added the rainbow/giants panel in the front:

I am SUPER proud and will be delivering it to her tomorrow.. I had scoured the 'net for any tutorial that fit my needs and ended up at Joann Fabrics buying Green Pepper Fleece Chullo Hat and adjusting it.. I added the mohawk-ish part and changed the length of it a bit..

Hope you like it Smiley
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Get your fabric before it is gone... on: July 31, 2010 03:34:03 PM
So not fair!!
I'm going to call more Walmarts Monday - uh, when hubby is not around.
I really need blender fabrics in a big way!  I have oodles of prints and a serious lack of blenders!

It's been a hit or miss for me lately at Walmart- a lot of them in the area have just now gotten rid of their fabric sections.. just got my unemployment check so I'm VERY anxious for the boyfriend to go to work so I can snag some awesomeness.. and I'm in the same boat tons of prints.. GOOD LUCK! Who knows I might get to that one in Mt. View and there be a whole lot of nothing left Undecided
