1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Some Origami Flowers and a Ribbon Bird on: February 23, 2008 07:37:21 PM
I'm usually useless at this sort of thing, so I was really very proud of managing to make these.  One of my friends taught me how very late at night last week.  Regardless, here's my flowers and bird decorating the top of my fishtank:

The awesome bird made out of a piece of ribbon (that took me a lot longer than it took my friend!):

A few flowers:

These aren't at all impressive compared to some of the stuff in here, but, you know, I was proud of them.  And I think they're fun if nothing else.  =D

Thanks for looking!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Two Blankets and a (Defective) Hat on: February 23, 2008 07:30:48 PM
That sounds like the title of a novel.  Or maybe that's just me.  =)

I realized that I spend ridiculous amounts of time looking at other people's stuff on craftster, but *gasp* have never posted any of my own.  So I rustled up all the crafted items lurking in my dorm room and took pictures of them.

A baby blanket, that was intended for a pregnant friend, but she miscarried.  I'll probably donate it to Project Linus.

Close up:

Another blanket, probably for charity.  There are actually about ten blankets I made in between these two, its really an unhealthy addiction.  I just finished this tonight and now I've already started another one.  o.O

All folded (its really much more purple, these pictures look too blue-ish):

And my first attempt at a hat, in which I completely forgot one of the first rounds of increases, resulting in a significantly smaller product.  Fortunately, the next one came out normal sized and this one keeps Grumpy's ears warm.

Modeled by Grumpy Bear, obviously.  I couldn't seem to coax a smile for the camera.  Wink

Thanks for looking.  =D
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Unwanted Pregnancy I'll-Be-There-For-You-Gift? on: May 17, 2007 01:50:43 PM
This is my first post!  And its kind of an odd one...

One of my good friends from grade school just found out she's pregnant at 18 - accidental birth control screw up.  She's planning on keeping the baby, but she's got a lot of medical issues so the chance of miscarriage is high, and I don't want to make her anything baby-related.

She hasn't told anyone except me and one other close friend, and I know she's feeling very alone and scared and hormonal, so...  I want to make her something to remind her that we love her and she's not alone, even if she's scared and hormonal.  You know?

She likes normal teenage girl stuff (I don't know why she's friends with me, haha).  She likes to party, and read, and is very ditzy (in a lovable way!).  She's also very fashionable so I can't make her something too dorky!  xD  She dances.  She doesn't have that many hobbies, she's too busy being a social butterfly!

I'm a good at crochet, but kind of slow.  I don't do many other crafty things, so any ideas for easy-ish, quick-to-make gifts for a situation like this?

I'm totally totally TOTALLY stuck.  Thanks for any help.  xD
