21  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Georgia's Cabin on: December 01, 2015 09:13:07 PM

Its about time I caught up on posting the few quilts I've actually managed to make this year.

This is from July.  It is called Georgia's Cabin and was made in response to the off season "Focus through the prism" challenge of Project Quilting.  It is made of quilter's cotton, is machine quilted and measures 20 inches by 20 inches.

Wow.  I am so far behind this year. I've spent some time looking at the pictures of all the amazing things you all have been making.  Really great work.  I am enjoying the food projects which seem to be more prevalent than I remember from past years.  There are some great cooks on here.  Lots of yarnies too!  Knowing how long it takes me to crochet a simple granny square, I am really impressed with the productivity of you yarnies!  Creative work all the way around.

I've updated my list and am pasting that update here.  I have been working on projects, I just haven't been able to keep up with posting.

This is absolutely wonderful.  I love it.  My quilty friends always tell me, if you can't see the mistake from the back of a galloping horse, it isn't there!  Looks perfect to me!

Thanks everyone.  I had a blast using my nephew's truck for a "photo shoot".  I wish I had more of my quilts here to photograph that way.

The fabric is a charm pack from a line by Malka Dubrawsky of the blog Stitch In Dye.  She does amazing work.  There is also a wee bit of gray linen in it as well.

This quilt was started as part of Project Quilting Season 6.  It was the last challenge and due sometime in March.  Didn't make it.  But I kept picking it up and doing a bit more.

It is finally done. It has bits of linen to give it some texture and a flannel back to make it cozy.  It is 24 x 36 inches.

29  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt qualifications on: June 11, 2015 08:27:11 PM
When I was growing up, quilts were made with white fabric, hand quilted, entered in the fair and mostly lived on the shelf or on the guest room bed. Comforters were made from scraps of fabric, tied, likely with a flannel back and USED.  Blankets were scratchy!

Aside from that, Mare is correct. The only time you need to worry about the definition of quilt is when you are entering it into a contest.
30  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: 15 Quilt Projects in 2015 on: June 11, 2015 08:23:03 PM
I started quilting in 2007  Cheesy. I have a husband who likes my hobbies and frequently blows my budget at quilt shops.

Lucky you... enablers are great until you start to feel the weight of the looming projects.
