1  Re: ~*~*Reviews of Prepackaged Vegetarian and Vegan Foods*~*~ in Vegetarian / Vegan by Bela-Kiss on: August 25, 2009 11:17:18 AM
So I recently made the transition to being vegan after a year and a half of being vegetarian...Really, I just had to cut out cheese and watch what is in the food I eat more...So anyway, my boyfriend realized I had nothing to eat at home and took me to the whole foods store. I got lots of yummy stuff and the first thing I have tried is:

Dr. McDougalls Big Meal Cups
I'd say a 4 1/2 out of 5.

I tried the vegan curry. Yummy, though it was a bit watery and if I eat too much it made me a little sick....but it still tasted good. Plus they were only $1.25 a piece....wow.

They have tons of flavors and you can even buy them online. Smiley

2  3XL tee shirt to size 6 dress. in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Bela-Kiss on: March 21, 2009 08:09:02 PM
Well, I was bored so I set out for a task...and I found it in this $3 tee shirt.
It took a lot of work but I am pretty pleased with how it came out. This shirt only reminds me of how much I need a dress form....but I can only hope that I will find one someday and adopt it.  Grin

3  Corset for pirate wench costume in Halloween Costumes by Bela-Kiss on: October 27, 2008 04:49:39 PM
I decided that this year I just HAD to dress up. I also decided that I didn't want some cheaply made overpriced store bought costume. Plus I have no money because I lost my job in July and due to the greatness of the economy- have yet to find a new one. Anywho....
So I sat in my craft area looking through things I had. Nothing.... 2 weeks ago I came home and my mom had left this amazing black skirt on my bed. She found it in her closet and didn't know why it was there. As soon as I saw the skirt it just screamed- PIRATE WENCH! Maybe that is because of the love for pirates I have always had.
My problem was I had no top and didn't want to settle with the simple white flowy ones. So I decided to make a corset. I must admit I was quite intimidated, however I figured if I never tried then I would just be mad at myself.
So I cut up an old pair of my sister's jeans to use as the base, took some measurements, sewed, cut, sewed, added trim, added ribbon, sewed, then hand sewed each individual ring on the back by hand. It didn't look cute so I added some red fabric to the bottom....
and now I have a corset that I must admit I am VERY proud of.

back. it looks funny in this picture but I promise it really isn't crooked like that.
The best part is it only cost 6 dollars to make. I just had to by the rings- $3 for 60 and the ribbon an chording-$3. =]
In the first pic you can also see my little drawstring bag I made to carry my wallet and phone.

Please tell me what you think. Smiley

5  rainbow dress watercolor in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Bela-Kiss on: June 10, 2008 08:37:13 AM
So I had to do a contest work for my Drawing II class. The contest I chose to do was a mothers & daughters theme. Well mine doesn't have a mother but it does have a daughter...
I used a picture frm Vegbee's Rainbow Twirly Patch dress ( I will post the link when I find it).
here is the link to her dress. I used the first pic as a basis.
Thanks to her for letting me use the image. Grin

I love the way the finished product came out.

It is watercolor and is about 8" by 11"....or so...
I wish I couldd've gotten more details but I was running out of time and the watercolor just couldn't be bothered...
The picture of course takes away some of the color. IT looks much better in person.

C&C welcome.

6  Icky Bookshelf recon in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Bela-Kiss on: June 09, 2008 11:00:23 AM
ok so, I was in desperate need of a bookshelf, plus something to do. So I set out looking for yard sales, found one, and this:

Im not a big fan of plain wood. It isn't even real wood anyway.... but it was also scratched, covered in cob webs, and smelled of cigarette smoke. Yucky. So I cleaned it, sprayed it for bugs, cleaned it again, and then painted it. 2 layers of black paint later, and the next morning, I have I simple bookshelf.

I am much happier with it now. I am thinking of maybe putting some details or something on the sides, but I don't know where it will be next year when I move out, and I want it to match.

7  Shirt to tote called satan. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Bela-Kiss on: April 11, 2008 09:36:36 PM
So this is my newest homemade bag. I made it over spring break. Everyone keeps complementing me on it and seem shocked to find out I made it.
I simple cut up an old shirt my neighbor gave me and sewed it up....well, I wish it were that simple. My sewing machine was on the fritz, the thread kept popping out, I lost my scissors plenty of times, and then  the bag didnt want to sew correctly. I forgot to sew the interior pocket in before I sewed the 2 sides of the lining together, so when I sewed it on, it decided it needed to be attached to both sides of the lining...I had to rip it apart, leaving a hole which I simply patched up.
Next, once it was all sewed up, one of the straps didn't sew on completely and the bottom corner of the outside didnt sew either...
so after I fixed it all up:

polka dot button up.

9  yellow bears bag from small pillowcase in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Bela-Kiss on: March 12, 2008 04:28:55 PM
I made this bag using an old pillowcase I've had since I was about 8 or so. My great grandmother's friend made the pillowcase before she died. She even hand embroidered the bears. Well, I loved it but I didn't use it and it was too small for any pillows  anyway- only by a few inches. Anyway, my rolling stones tote ripped so I made this one. It took about an hour and a half to make. not counting the time I spent arguing with my sewing machine. I had the buttons and green fabric already. This bag was very easy to make  and I just used the hem from the open end as the strap. (turn it inside out and voila)

Please excuse my shirt. tehe

and the inside:

Thank you for looking. I would love any questions or comments. Grin
