343  my first dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by that1girl on: January 12, 2012 03:09:55 AM
I went to Joann's planning on getting some yarn to finish my shawl and knit a sweater for my mom. then i went to the pattern section. I have make a well fitting clothing on my project list. and i found a bunch of cute dresses that i wanted to make. but i was really stuck on this one, i went back and forth about buying it on sale it was 10.99. i mean come on that much just for a pattern and the paper is thinner then printer paper.

I wanted to try to make it with a really nice fabric. not really a good idea if your just starting out. but you know go big or go home. so i went for silky/ satin material. i got three yards and two different prints it was around 20$ each for those. so i put back the yarns that i had picked up. but i was so excited to be making the dress.

i went home and just started cutting. i went for the shorter dress. and i went for size 12 in the pattern. but if it was a tight dress i would've had to go with a size 16. i tell you patterns in juniors run small.

i made the whole dress in a day, around six hours.

this is my first almost perfect piece of clothing I've made

pattern McCall m6113

346  flower clip in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by that1girl on: January 10, 2012 04:37:03 AM

ok so this all started off with me surfing cut out and keep. i saw these really cut paper flower. But I dont have pretty paper then I remembered seeing fabric flower like that on craftster. But I didnt know what they were called so I couldn't find them. so on to Google keyword fabric flowers. i got lots of different kinds but I was looking for what after ten minutes of crazy searching i found out was called Tsusami Kanzahi. So I looked at all these different sites for tutorials that were easy to follow. Ehow was not the place they just tell you in words which doesnt help me. So I went to the great and powerful YouTube and found this video. The girl in it I think her name is Sara; she was so cute and fluttered at times that I kept me watching her video above all others

her blog

Ok so the first two I made where crazy messy. I just had to redo them. Then I followed the advice in the video and ironed my fabric, I dont have starch so I didnt do that. But the flowers after that turned out great.  It could have been the iron or the fact that I just practices making them for an hour.
I wanted to use up some of my crazy shape and little pieces fabric stash. So there is cotton, canvas, satin, fleece. I have a never ending bag of (fake/plated) gold and silver buttons so I used those. I like the silver more so yea. I found that the buttons will sink to the center of the flower. The only way that I have found to stop that is to sew a little circle on top of the center and sew the button to that. then you just sew the clip or bobby pin to the back.

349  needle roll in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by that1girl on: January 02, 2012 12:51:03 PM
I was tired of my DPN rolling all around in boxes. now thats not saying that i will remember to put them back into there case . But it might help with looseing sizes every week.

its a 24x 12 inch case with a button closer. i used how-to's and kinda free formed. along with my newbie sewing skills makes it a little uneven
