Ok, here it is. I thought I'd give this board a whirl.
I'm knitting a ribbed legwarmer and the pattern states to cast on 27 and (k2,p1) for all rows. So obv it's 3x9 = 27 to come to that cast on, but here's the thing...I cast on 30 b/c the person I'm making them for has large calves and thicker ankles than I do...and I've now knit 3 rows and it doesn't look right, the stitches aren't matching up. I am exhausted which is why I can't tap into this BASIC idiotic question, but can someone please offer me help??? Shouldn't it work out correctly? I am so frustrated that I can't figure out this BASIC MATH!
THANKS! OH...I should mention that I want to do a mattress stitch seaming to join edges so I need a stitch at the edge that will have the inner "bar".
