1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Wedding invites and cake decoration for a friend on: February 13, 2011 05:30:49 AM

No they were just posted in regular envelopes.. and arrived fine!

Did you use a tute? My teen daughter is suddenly all about hair clips, and would love these filmy wonders...and they look like they're light enough to stay in her silky, fine hair!

No tute.. just made it up as i went along!
just a strip of organza folded in half.. running stitch all along, pulled in to make flower shape, sewn at the gather then swarvoski crystals and pearls sewn on the front to hide all the messy stitches!

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Wedding invites and cake decoration for a friend on: February 10, 2011 03:19:25 PM

These are invites I made for a friend, she also wanted extra flowers for her cake decoration.

I made her placecards and a table setting board, and table names.. but didn't get any photos of them Sad

4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Medusa on: February 08, 2011 09:41:00 AM
So after years of wanting to dress as medusa at hallowe'en i finally did it!

Used an old bridesmaid dress as my base, cut a slit in the skirt and covered it with green voile... the skirt part has lots of strips twisted and sewn in different bits to the skirt, to try to represent snakes.. the top has green voile sewn onto it and gathered at the front.

Also made my boyfriend's cloak he is wearing.. using an old black sheet.

Oh excuse the face in the first picture that's meant to be my turn you to stone stare!  Cheesy

Used a long black curly wig i had and pined it up, painted some cheap rubber snakes and pined them into the wig.

Then decided i wanted to give myself scaly skin.. so painted it green (with the most rubbish face paint ever, which was sticky and gloopy  Roll Eyes), put net from a bag of oranges over the top, put grey face paint ontop and peeled the net away.. you can see the scales a bit, but was better in real life. If i was doing it again though i'd buy snazaroo face paint, it is just so much more superior!

I loved it! think my favourite finished bit was the face paint though!  Grin

You could make balloons in to octopus shapes, using a normal balloon and long balloons for their tentacles..
Use shells from the beach to help decorate..
Blue fabric draped around the place, and used as a table cloth, the blue and green streamers is a great idea too!

Cake, could make a starfish or fish shaped cake.. with cupcakes with blue icing sitting around it.
Blue jelly with gummi fish or sharks in it.. with cream ontop to make a wave
Getting the fish cookie cutter and shaping sandwiches is a really good idea too!

Goodie bags, generally cheap items, beach ball could fall into the beach theme, cheap dolphin toys, if you wanted to you could make a magnet/brooch of a nemo fish using orange foam card in a fish shape with white foam on top for the stripes, with googly stick on eyes, starfish hairclips, bubbles.

Activity wise, you could get the kids to make fish or octopus using paper plates, crayons, card (streamers for octopus).
