11  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Nintendo Perler Bead Coaster Set on: November 05, 2007 07:18:40 PM
Hey everyone!  I thought I would share these awesome coasters with you guys, even though I didn't make them.  My boyfriend made these coasters and the box for his brother's birthday.  He made them out of perler beads and it took him FOREVER to come up with the designs for all of the coasters.  He got the idea for the box from a post I showed him on Craftster, (I think!  It was a while ago) and it took about 2 weeks to finish.  Anyway, here are the pics!

A view of the box and all of the coasters:

And a closeup of how the coasters sit in the box:

There is corkboard on the bottom of all of these to make them waterproof.  Anyway, I hope you guys like them!  He's really proud of them.

He also wants to say that it took 8,414 beads to do this.  (bragger)  =)
12  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Hobbits! Four of them! on: October 28, 2007 12:49:49 PM
Meet the hobbits!  Of course, they are Sam, Merry, Pippin and Frodo.  Their little vests and capes are made out of felt, but everything else is crocheted.  I hope you guys like them!

Here's all four!

Sam and Merry

Pippin and Frodo

Hopefully I will get to finish the rest of the Fellowship--I'm working on Aragorn next.  Thanks for looking!
13  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Fujioka Haruhi crochet doll on: September 28, 2007 07:16:24 PM
This is a little Haruhi doll that I made for the anime swap--my partner received and posted pics, so I thought I would share it here!  I am so proud of this doll, she is the first crochet amigurumi that I have done (I'm usually a knitter).

I used a tutorial for the body (http://stitch.hellooperator.net/free-patterns/amigurumi-doll/) but modified it a bit, and then I kind of just winged the head, arms and legs.

Artistic shot!

And another pic:

And here's a pic I used as reference

I know the color is off, and after I finished the body I found the EXACT color in sugar 'n cream, but I like the light blue better.  I'm really sad I had to send her off, but I bet my partner fezzle will love her as much as I do!
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting in Popular Culture on: June 07, 2007 05:45:15 PM
Hey guys!  I thought it would be interesting if everyone shared some knitted objects from their favorite tv shows or movies. (If this is a repeat thread or in the wrong folder, just let me know, I'm kind of a newbie =) )
Everyone knows about the scarves from Harry Potter and Jayne's hat from Firefly, but I thought I would share some of my more obscure favorite knitted objects.

First off, I know she's supposed to be an MRF, but I think her hat and shawl are really cute.  (From Arrested Development, if nobody's seen it)

And the second is from Lord of the Rings--it's small, but Pippin's scarf is knitted.  Here is a small (bad) picture.

Anyway, thought I would share my favorites!  I hope somebody else has something they can contribute to the thread!
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Weekly World News side tables on: May 19, 2007 03:22:38 PM
I made these tables a couple of years ago, but I thought I would post them here because I am very proud of them.  They are just funny headlines I clipped from the Weekly World News and pasted on to two folding tables I got at a garage sale.

My favorite pic is the giant turtle attacking the boat--either that, or the pentagon being infiltrated by squirrels.  =)  Hope you guys like!
